I still have dial-up! Hate it! But, the ONLY ISP here is the local phone company, and they are still charging 80+ a month for the faster option - DSL, I think. We have that at work and I have gotten spoiled using it there, but I can't justify spending that much at home!!

I pay around$60 for my Cable Internet. The best option for someone who doesn't do a whole lot of downloading of large files etc is DSL which can be had for as little as $15pm.

I'm not sure who the ISP providers would be in Puerto Rico. I would suggest going right through your cable or phone provider, though, as third party providers in my experience aren't nearly as reliable. DSL (through the phone company) is usually less expensive than cable, and in most cases it will be more than enough bandwidth for you. That's the route I'd consider, unless you want to get rid of you phone line altogether.

I have DSL through Bellsouth and like it. I have the lite and it is good for what I do on the computer. Now when the girls get older I might upgrade to a faster Bellsouth DSL

Can someone tell me what Fastband is?

2MB/s ADSL here, although at uni I've managed to get speeds of up to 66MB/s with an upload speed of just 4MB/s.

Ive had cable for a few years now. When you add the costs for a home phone and dial up you save money. Of course I dont have a need a home phone either. CABLE ROCKS!

Why do you like DSL better?

I'm just wondering because I've had cable for several years now, since it was first available. DSL was never available. When they repaired all the phone lines after Rita, they upgraded to DSL lines here and now it's available. I pay $45/month for RoadRunner cable but the phone company is offering $20/mo. for high-speed DSL or whatever it's called (supposed to be the fast DSL) for one year and then it goes to $35/month. Also, if I send in a copy of my final cable bill, they will credit me $60 to get the first 3 months of it free. Seems silly to pass up if it's just as good, but I am spoiled to my super-fast cable and wouldn't really want a noticeable decrease in speed.

Cable here for about $50 a month. Till you throw in 4 tv outlets, 3 tv converter boxes, a cable modem, 2 IP addresses, and more pay per view movies than we should watch, my cable bill is about $150 a month.

I have Road Runner and it costs about 45 a month. I have digital cable, digital phone, and high speed internet all through Bright House. My bill is 145.00 a month for the 3 services(48.33 for each service) great deal. And I would recommend Road Runner, it has been awesome for me.

I got the new Dell computer, back in September, and decided to hang
up the dial-up. The DSL Lite is exactly what I need for occasional
surfing, Storm2K, and e-mail. I don't do gaming, so, I don't need
anything really extreme.
