Proud Day Coming Up

#1 Postby weatherwunder » Mon Jun 02, 2003 9:29 pm

Next weekend the daughter of a very close friend (25 years a friend) will be graduating from High School. This may not seem like a big deal, but here is the story.

This girl always had problems in classes. She was barely passing. She said she could not hear the teacher or understand what she was saying. Her parents tried everything, and the school system basically said that she was a slow learner.

6 years ago, I got involved by getting her hooked up with the philanthropy that one of my Masonic Organizations is connected with. This is for hearing disorders due to electrical connections in the brain. We took her to Colorado State University, where she was tested.

She was then fitted with a special hearing aid (so small it could not be seen). They sent a letter to the school advising them of steps that should be taken to help her. The school complied.

Her junior and senior years she has finished with straight A's.

I have know this girl since the day she was born. I was the third person to hold her after she was born. I think I am as proud of her as her parents.

A bunch of praying and a little help from science has made a difference in this young lady's life.
