DOES ANYONE REMEMBER CAMP LEROY JOHNSON?

#1 Postby george_r_1961 » Tue Mar 28, 2006 11:23 pm

Ive been thinking alot lately about the place I was born at in NOLA. The former site of Camp Leroy Johnson is now the site of UNO. The camp closed around 1964 I think. If anyone there remembers anything about Leroy Johnson it would be cool to hear about it. Thanks :)

I remember! There was a army radar on a tall tower near Franklin Ave and Leon Simon. We use to go that way to Ponchatrain Beach in the summer. Being a kid, I like to watch it go around and around. The western part of UNO is built on an old Naval Air Station if I recall correctly.....MGC
