Wave height in katrina could of been 200 feet

#1 Postby Matt-hurricanewatcher » Sat Apr 01, 2006 6:26 pm

I was reading a science paper earlier today from this hurricane forecaster he said that there was reports that the surge may of been 45 feet tall over the ms coastline. With wave reports when katrina was over the gulf of 200 feet high. Also he says that it is likely since not intill about 12 hours before landfall did the Ms coast know that katrina was even going to hit them. Those people thought that the LA coast would get slamed by the news talking about the New orleans. Reports show that 1/3 of the people on the coast stayed. This forecaster thinks that up to 10k or possibly as much as 30k got pulled out to sea.

I think it's time for the jokes to stop. They've been getting less and less funny all day. This one isn't funny at all. You should be ashamed for even making a joke about that to begin with.

this one was very obvious. 200 feet? I think we would have heard about this a long time ago.

Pretty sad humor all things considered. I wonder why this post is even still on the board.

Agreed. At the very least, this thread should be locked.

ya...not the best way to go on an April Fools joke...needs to be a little more realistic, as said above...but cut matt-hurricanewatcher some slack...he was just trying to get some holiday spirit...even if it didnt come out as good as he thought (actually way worse but not the point)

Anything involving death or extreme suffering cannot be joked about.

I mean this as advice to the original poster.
Matt and other members on here are kids so I'm not going to get angry, I just want them to be aware that certain
subjects cannot be joked about. I know he did not intend to be insensitive even
though it came out that way.....just like with the global warming post- Matt was
trying to see if there were positive sides to global warming, yes it was insensitive to ignore the consequences of global warming...but Matt is a kid and with a kid's perception was just looking for the positive aspects of an event...trying to be optimistic but through sheer fact of being a child not containing an understanding of the vast human suffering possible was unaware of the implications.

So to Matt and others, please be aware that anything involving human suffering cannot be interpreted in an optimistic or jocular light, meaning you cannot joke about it. Just like people do not joke about bomb threats, as doing so is extremely dangerous and leads to legal consequences, one cannot joke about subjects with vast implications for suffering of humans or any living beings for that matter.

You're a sick person if you think that's funny. :x

BTW, "could of" should be "could have". At least use proper English if you're going to do something stupid like this.

I did not make it to be funny, like the shutting down storm2k one was. I made it to shock the heck out of the reader.

This is getting old. I say all these April fools threads get deleted. They're clogging up the page.
