:sadly: Sadly, we need to pray to the families that lost someone tonight. There may still be more fatalities to come - they are still searching some areas.

We should have a new thread for next week's possible outbreaks.

I wondered if I was in the right thread for a sec.

Agreed, let's get a separate thread going for the Thursday-Friday deal, so others don't get confused like I did.

I wonder what the Fujita rating for the Tri-State Supercell, especially the Newbern tornado, will be? I can't see it being less than F3, possibly F4.

Here is my thinking this thing had 62 tornadoe reports. When its all end in done I expect at least 80 tornado reports. With 40 of them being confirmed which will be a little less then half what we got on the 12th of March.

I expect
1 f4
4 f3
....Everything else below f3...

So I rate this on a scale of one to ten a ten being the super outbreak I would say a 4. While March 12th got a 6.

I'm trying to reach my sister in-law and her family. They live in Dyersburg, TN. on Beaver Creek Rd. I don't want to wake my wife and worry her, but I am concerned. Anyone heard of what areas of Dyersburg were hit? Probably not yet, but if you do would you please post it. Thanks all.

According to CNN:

(CNN) -- Fierce storms packing high winds and twisters tore through the Midwest and South on Sunday, killing 14 people, including 11 in northwestern Tennessee.

Eight people were killed west and north of the Dyer County town of Newbern, according to Tennessee Emergency Management spokesman Kurt Pickering.

"Numerous homes" were destroyed amid widespread property damage when a tornado swept through the area on Sunday night, he said.

Three other people died in nearby Gibson County, Pickering said.

I hope that helps, Wpwx.

Here is a final look at the severe reports from Yesterday:

Image

Thought we did not beat 3/12 in terms of total tornadoes...we did beat 3/12 in terms of TOTAL severe reports (which is over 700!). It looks like we will add to this today though as the severe weather will be ongoing in the Carolinas and Mid Atlantic.

I havn't seen any damage photos yet, but the Dyersburg/Gibson tornado had unbelievable look to it on the radar. I don't think I've ever seen a cell look that powerful. It made most of the long track cells from March 12th look pretty average. I'd have to imagine that storm will be the highest rated of the day, peaking around Rutherford, TN. There were some photos from the cell earlier in AK and it had a huge stovepipe tornado on the ground despite being fairly high based, and with little in the way of wall clouds or beaver tail inflows. If it could drop a tornado like that with those storm dynamics, I fear what it did in Western Tennessee when it realy got its act together.

AP are now reporting deathtoll up to 23. It probably won't stop there unfortunately :(

Fox has been showing pics of Caruthersville, MO. I've known this little town all my life. It looks like a bomb went off.

Dyer Co, TN (across the river from Caruthersville) looks like the worst hit so far. We will hear more about that as the day progresses.

One death in Illinois was from system that passed right over metro St. Louis. And Metro Memphis was missed by one long tracker to the north (mentioned above) and one that fell apart crossing the river into Memphis. It could have been so much worse, I guess, but small consolation.

Meanwhile, Associated Press thinks crossing the Mississippi River from Arkansas puts one in Illinois!

From http://www.semissourian.com/story/1146733.html
"The storm system, which also spawned at least a half-dozen tornadoes in northeast Arkansas before moving into Illinois, dropped large, damaging hail and caused widespread tree and power line damage, the weather service said. "

Another good example of press people uninformed (or just STUPID, STUPID, STUPID), and don't care to do any checking for accuracy!

This might not be over with yet. They are talking about damaging winds, large hail, and posssible tornadoes now for eastern Ohio, Western PA, and West Virigina. SPC has issued a MD for the region, and they have mentioned that a WW could be likely in the next couple of hours for this region. They didn't even have us in the slight risk when I got up this morning, and know we are and they have a MD posted for the region. I am watching the clearing line from last nights rain push in from the west right now, and if we get much sunshine today, we could be in trouble.

Yep temps here in SC are to reach 90 today before a possible squall line will develop. I look to see Isolated explosive storms in SC and NC area. Most likely though in NC, VA, WV.
