is located 130 WNW of Laoag City in Northern Luzon with winds of 40kt.
The storm is moving NE at 10kt and is expected to track through the Bashi Channel over the Batanes Island Group and just SE of Okinawa peaking at 55 kt before becoming ET ESE of Japan over the next 5 days.

Nangka , Dodong for the philippines.

Nangka = Also known as Jackfruit. This oval-shaped, yellow fruit is very popular in Malaysia.

has become extratropical and has been finalled out. In the Philippines, Nangka is called Langka and the fruit itself is very large. When I lived there I had two Jackfruit trees as well as the mandatory Banana and Papaya trees and even grew my own pineapple.

Although the RSMC for Typhoons in WPAC is the Typhoon Centre in Tokyo, there are local warning centers in other Countries. PAGASA (the Philippine equivalent of NOAA) has local maritime and public warning responsibility for the region around the Philippines. Therefore, for Public use they have developed lists of names in the Filipino dialects for use when storms enter their AOR (Area of Responsibility) when they use in all of their publicly issued advisories and warnings. They developed the new lists at the same time the list of Asian names were developed using input from the Public. They did the same thing when the International names came out from JTWC and this would cause US Military Forecasters at Clark and Subic headaches because people on base would think that there were two different storms when they would hear about Typhoon Irma and Bagyong "Bidang" (Bagyo is the Filipino word for Typhoon and ng is a connector-those two names in fact were actually used together in 1974). TS Linfa which recently crossed Luzon was named "Chedeng" by PAGASA.
