Fort Smith, Fayetteville and Joplin are in the immediate threat for those tornadoes.

When I was in ft smith earlier today the radio was talking about the MAJOR severe threat for this evening and that is verifying.

It seems now we have several distinct supercells - how long will they hold? Looks like Joplin could be on the doorstep of a pounding...

I think the supercellular tornadic threat will be around till 10pm to midnight...I expect a transition to more of an MCS setup, which could still spawn tornadoes but they'd be more on the F0, F1, F2 varietya nd probably pretty shortlived.

Joplin will be safe from that particular storm...it will move to the north of the city as of right now if it continues its present northeast track.

CONTINUED TO TRACK A VERY DANGEROUS STORM. THIS TORNADIC STORM WAS

745 PM CDT THU APR 6 2006

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST IOWA
FAR NORTHEAST KANSAS
NORTHWEST MISSOURI

EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY MORNING FROM 745 PM
UNTIL 300 AM CDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 50 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 20 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF
DENISON IOWA TO 35 MILES EAST OF OLATHE KANSAS. FOR A COMPLETE
DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE ASSOCIATED WATCH OUTLINE UPDATE
