Tornado Watch has been cancelled here... Pretty much a non-event here in the KC metro area.

We pretty much lucked out again today, had we reached our forcast high for the area of mid 80s I think things probably would have been much worse, but the overcast skys most of the day saved our butts again.

It seems that the whole time there was a hole in the I-70 corridor...they are all to the north and south. Overnight, I'd say Arkansas and Missouri are most at risk, and there should be some tornadoes, but no swarm.

Remember, though, it takes only ONE tornado to be destructive and deadly...

Tomorrow is a completely different situation though.

Can't say I'm too surprised by todays outcome. I suspected more hail and wind reports but the tornado count is about what I expected, although not in the areas I expected ;) Tomorrow looks more promising though.. I'm sure there are some very embarrased people on this forum after some of the hyping which was going on :D

For Friday

Severe weather 100 percent
Tornadoes 70 percent
Outbreak 60 percent
20 or more 75 percent
50 or more 40 percent
100 or more 10 percent
A super outbreak 0 percent

Hail 250 reports being forecasted for Friday
Wind 110-120 reports.

So around 25 to 40 tornadoes I'm expecting on friday.

Looks like we are entering the break period. In my view, this was just Part 1 of the outbreak. Tomorrow we'll see if more develops. (Who knows, maybe some overnight activity?)

It looks like we could have a broadscale MCS by midnight or 1am, strong straightline winds and hail will probably be the primary threats after midnight. It's also possible that these storms could push out far enough ahead of the system that they begin collapsing and we see redevelopment between 1am and 4am...however I dont think we'll see much in the way of tornadic activity.

Looks like much of it will be over the atlantic by saturday...The L hasn't moved much the last 24hrs so it depends on how fast it moves tonight, but if tomorrows maps hold up by the SPC I think saturday wont be much of anything other than perhaps an MCS pushing off the coast early that morning, say before noontime.

Yeah me too...it's hard to zoom in...I may consider even purchasing that ultra-powerful system if it covers a broad enough area...

I don't think that this should have been a HIGH RISK day. I have seen worse SLIGHT RISK events.

I've been to Chetopa KS. That's too bad that there were injuries and damage down there. :(

I was just talking about the greater KC area. It was pretty much a non-event for us here in the greater KC area. I know that one of the TV mets is catching grief right now because he over-hyped this storm for KC. I think that the storm was over-hyped for the greater KC area. My mom called it best... She said that it did not feel like severe weather to her today. We got a little bit of rain and lightning and thunder but that is all. No, I was not wishing for anything bad... I am just disappointed that in the future people may not take a high risk as seriously.

So, what happened last night (or rather, didn't happen?) that prevented the outbreak we were expecting?
