Thanks for the reminder alicia! I meant to rent it yesterday so we could have it for tonight. Hopefully if I swing by Blockbuster during the day today, they'll have a few DVD's in stock. I might have forgotten by 8 tonight. And then I'm sure they'd be all checked out.

One tip when renting movies at Blockbuster - make sure they remove that new yellow DVD guard, before you leave the store. They left it in 3 times on us and it's almost impossible to remove. Now we check before we walk out, but a clerk told me if they ever leave it in, take a razor blade and slit the back of the case open, and remove it yourself. He said - it's our fault if we do that and you have to destroy the cover just to watch the movie.

Once we had drinks poured, popcorn popped, the gas FP going, fleece blankets all ready to cover up with AND I had my robe on, slippers to boot. And that's when we saw the lovely safety yellow guard.....grrrrrr! It was snowing and nasty out, but back up to Blockbuster I went. I wanted a free rental out of that inconvenience.......didn't get it though.

So just be forewarded - make sure they remove it before you leave!

I should have. These 3 DVD instances happened at 2 different Blockbusters. The one didn't have 2 movies in stock, so we drove further away for it. That was the night I was all comfy in my robe. I called the one right up the street and asked them if I could just run in fast, they'd remove them and I'd be out the door, even if they weren't from their actual Blockbuster. Sure, come on in. I did change - LOL. But I ran in, said I just called, he had the machine thingy right there, whipped those babies out and I thanked him. Saying you all need to remove these before customers leave the store. He apologized, for the other store. Since they didn't rent them, technically I didn't push it. When they were due back, I forgot and just put them in the slot.

So I'm a whimp, didn't push it. The third time was a while back and took us by surprise. Clerk said they were so new (guards) that they were all having a hard time getting used to them, since older DVD rentals didn't come with them. Felt bad being difficult in that case.

I'm guessing all new DVD's come with them so clerks will become more accustomed to removing them. All I know is, we check now. I had to laugh with Laura and said - it's a good thing you're older now, imagine if this rental was for a slumber party of young girls and I was the only parent home (as in this case). I couldn't have put 8 girls in the car! LOL

Just watch for that.

I'll remember Dreamer for another time.

I rented Brokeback Mountain. Only a handful of copies left available so heads up if anyone is planning on renting this movie. Run and out and get it now. Even though it's a 2 day rental, people have up to 7 days to return it before it's charged to their account. Before late fees were a thing of the past, you could count on new releases being returned, on a daily basis. I'd walk in the front door and go to the counter with the drop box, not even the display area along the back wall. I still do this but it's rare when I see a new release we want to rent, sitting right there.

If you want to see a specific new release on a weekend night, you'd better get it by Friday @ 3 p.m.

I highly recommend Netflix. If you tend to rent more than 3 or 4 movies a month it pays for itself.

we saw Prime last night. absolutely hilarious. Meryl Streep in a GREAT comedic role.

Today I watched The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio. I thought of Miss Mary while watching this. It is truly a great and inspirational movie.

will watch The Ice Harvest tonight. We're probably going to see Basic Instinct 2 tonight or tomorrow afternoon. And as much as i am not crazy about Jennifer Aniston, I really want to see Friends with Money but dont know when the nationwide opening is.

I've never heard of The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio. I will have to check it out!

We're watching Brokeback Mountain @ 8 tonight.......I'll let you know how we like it. I suspect I'll give it a two thumbs up from all I've heard. One member in our family saw it and she cried (Nina). Couldn't wrangle another family to go to the theaters with me though (save for the dog!). So I waited for it to go to rental.....

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- The best movie out of all the other Potter movies. The mixture of Comedy, Suspense, and other factors in this movie was balanced evenly.

My daughter watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. She loved it. I'll have to ask if she thought it was the best of all HP movies.

Brokeback Mountain - excellent. Ground breaking. Sad, sad love story. However, I really wish I had rushed out to see this movie in the alternative, smaller theaters that ran it first. Before the mainstream press got a hold of the story. If I had, I would have known very little of what was to transpire. Waiting this long to see the movie, I knew almost the entire story, from watching clips on TV and reading critic's reviews in the press. So that's my only regret. I didn't even cry and had I watched it back when it first hit the small screen, I know I would have. Still, I'd recommend it. There is brief nudity and of course, content is inappropriate for someone younger than say 13 or 14. I thought it was wonderfully done. Heath Ledger reminds me of an actor from my mom's generation - possibly Steve McQueen? There's something about his style, the way he talks, something about him reminds me a long ago actor.

The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. I actually went and bought it for the kids and we can't wait to watch it again. It was my favorite book series when I was a kid.

Alicia - we were shocked the actress from the Princess Diaries bared her breasts! But other than that, there were no shocks. And tastefully done as you said. The whole film was tastefully done I thought.

Just curious...which plan do you have? I'm wondering if it really only takes a few days to return one DVD and get the next one on the 1 DVD at-a-time with unlimited rentals per month for $9.99/mo.

Here's the plans:
http://www.netflix.com/HowItWorks?lnkctr=nmhhiw
(click on Click here to learn about other available plans. under Cost)

If nothing else, I think I will give one of them a try anyway since there's a 2 week free trial period.

I like going in Blockbuster though...they often have awesome sales on previewed DVD's and I have bought recent movies for dirt cheap. They have a 30-day return policy so if they're scratched, you can return it. I usually take several to the front and the clerk goes through them and I take the best looking one.

I've got to stop watching movies and do serious chores around here. Hosting a small Easter dinner. LOL But I'll be back to watching movies in a week or so.

What I need to do is write these movie titles down, that you all have recently watched and recommended. Trouble is I often stop by Blockbuster while out running other errands and I stand there along the back wall, clueless as to what's good or not. Then I often wander into the Comedy section, hoping to see a movie first time around. Again, clueless!
