Wedding Presents

#1 Postby alicia-w » Fri Apr 07, 2006 8:03 am

My only cousin (who is younger than our oldest daughter) is getting married in June. Due to some weird circumstances, we have never met but have been getting to know each other through email and letters. Last night she asked me to her wedding. What sort of gift do you get for someone who is a close relative but you dont really know? Creativity is okay but dont get crazy....

Give them a gift certificate to a nice store and let them pick out what they want. If you do not want to spend that much money, give them a certificate for a wonderful dinner at a nice restruant.

Doh!

Maybe find a nice picnic basket that you can outfit with utensils, plastic plates, plastic wine glasses, tablecloth and a low to moderately priced bottle of nice wine (or if they do not drink alcohol, sparkling cider)?

You might could throw in a small candle or two for that extra touch. Just brainstorming.

I feel gift certificates are impersonal but in this case i would recommend one. Maybe to a nice restaurant in their area with a nice bottle of wine to accompany their meal.
