GREAT NEWS!

#1 Postby alicia-w » Fri Apr 07, 2006 1:32 pm

As some of you might know, my baby (18, 6'4" 235lbs) moved out a few days after his 18th birthday due to some terminal case of independence. I was absolutely distraught as an era in my life had come to an abrupt close. He wasnt going to school and quit his job. Or so we heard.

Today, he calls me at work and he got a job as a sous chef! Yea!!!! He wants to be a professional chef and has been working for a great chef since he was 14 or so.

While he hasnt been attending classes regularly, the principal and his guidance counselor told him he only needs two classes to graduate, so why take all that other stuff???

So today was full of some wonderful (and some not-so-wonderful) news. But the good certainly outweighed the bad.

Is he going to graduate? He will need to finish school I would think to go on to a good cooking or chef school. I am glad things are working out well for him and he is enjoying doing something he enjoys. So many people go to work who hate their jobs. Where is he working and what kind of food is he cooking up? I could use some good secret recipes. :cheesy:

he IS going to graduate...YIPPEE!!!
There is a marina where we live and they have a very nice restaurant. They serve various seafood and meat dishes. It is very good food. Because his dad and I were on the road a lot, he decided to learn how to cook instead of becoming a slave to Stouffers or Schwans. He asked for various cookbooks and kitchen tools throughout the years and with minimal supervision became a terrific cook.
