I'm all for a Texas SK2 meeting, but I would like to have it Austin since it would be a good middle ground between D/FW and Houston. As far as a place goes any place with Mexican food would be cool.

Now, unless the move the Hurricane conference to Austin, that's gonna be a little difficult. :wink:

Texas is pretty big, so if you don't want to make the trip to Houston (although it's really not that far from Tarrant County), feel free to organize your own Storm2k meeting in the Dallas or Austin area. You can discuss that in a new thread, but I'd hope you'd try to make the trip to Houston for the hurricane workshop and meet more of us. Or you could try for both!

I usually just read the forums during the hurricane season and hardly post, but I WILL be attending the Houston/Galveston Hurricane Workshop.. I see links already in place but to summarize it will be at the George R. Brown Convention Center (much bigger than last 10+ years) on Tue, May 30th beginning at 4pm. The event is free but I think we'll have to pay to park.

If you go to the National Weather Service Houson http://www.srh.noaa.gov/hgx and click on the Hurricane 2006 icon on the top of the page, it will give you the address and directions for those who havent been there before.. or for those who are displaced from Katrina/Rita from '05.

I will be going as I have been going to the last few, and since I was part of a huge screwed up evacuation and there were so many others whom were affected by this, this will probably be the biggest turnout.

Looks to be a great turn-out. You can bet the news media will hype this event after last years hurricane season.

I have a Storm2k black cap I will wear. It would be great if everyone could have something Iding themselves as S2Kers. The best way to do that is to buy something from the S2K store I guess. The only other Idea I have on that is for someone to design an S2K badge/name tag(thanks for the idea and print them up for all who are attending and get them to the participants before the conference. An volunteers?

And yes, Houstonia organized the first 2 S2K get togethers that I am aware of, both in Galveston(or was it just one) I know I and my family were at one of those(if there were two? We also had several attend the conference 3 years ago. Not sure where those pics are. I thought I posted them, but that may have been on my comp. MEt Dr. Neil Frank and Jim Franklin from NHC. I would expect that this conference will be quite well attended considering the last few years and especially last year.
