Do You Hate Your House?

#1 Postby Janice » Wed Apr 19, 2006 8:34 am

What is one thing you hate about your house?

I hate my french doors and windows. It is a major pain cleaning all those little individual window glass on both sides. With lots of cats, the bottoms of my doors and windows are always full of licks on both side.

We have a few skylights in our house too. Yes, they leak, but John just resurfaced our roof and caulked well around them, so we are prepared for this cane season. They are really great, bring in a ton of natural light.

The only thing i dislike abotu my hosue is the lack of storage space. I don't hate it, though. In fact I really liek it and I dread the day that we'll have to move out if we have a second child.

That my dad is obsessed with deer hunting and insists on hanging deer heads all over the living room walls. It is embarrasing. And painful because I am an animal lover that hates looking at it. And lack of storage space especially the closets. But, I am thankful I have a roof over my head. Many do not even have a home to go to.

the only other thing i dislike is that because we live on a marsh, we have to wash our house three or four times a year (mold). We also have to pressure wash the driveway pretty frequently. But it's pretty private and we have lots of wildlife to watch every day.

I love my home. The upkeep can be a little tiresome and expensive at times, but I'm thankful.

My living room window...the goofy builder put in a custom arched window that doesn't open! How in the heck am i supposed to get a cross breeze on a beautiful spring day? Oh wait...we barely had a spring this year, it feels like summer already!

Size in generally. The small yard, the seemingly small house, and not enough storage space and closets. It is a 3 bedroom two bath, but with 3 kids its just not enough. And I would love a huge yard to plant a few fruit trees, and have a massive garden. Soon, very soon we are going to have to move we have outgrown this house in a big way.

Our bricks and siding are pink. I hate that, it's so ugly.

I don't hate my house at all. Now, if you asked me the one thing I hate about my family, I couldn't stick to just one! Sorry to go OT there.

My neighborhood is fairly new so there are no big trees around and I love trees so I have planted 7 so far. Can't wait for them to grow big.

With the growth around here the past 10-15 years I see alot of that. Only very few subdivisions go up with regaurd to nature. I hate to see it happen, there should be some laws that require them to leave so many trees. I know in Deltona I think it is all the WalMarts, grocery stores, ect, are all hidden by pine trees, scrub oak, and palmettos. Natural habitat for Florida and its the law there to leave so many trees per acre, it looks so wonderful to drive through town you don't even know you are in town with everything secluded, they only tore down the trees they really needed to. Sorry to ramble. But that is a big pet peeve I have about development.

It will be great to watch those trees you planted mature over the years though. My dad planted a Canphor tree in the back yard when my I was a baby and it is a massive tree now. Hopefully you stay long enough to see it happen. :D

No, you open windows on one side of the house and open the windows on the opposite side of the house to get a crossbreeze. The air is able to flow thru your house creating a breeze.

We're renting, so there's things that don't bother me that would bother a homeowner - like a rotten front porch. There's other things that bother me that will probably never get fixed - like a slow drain in the bathroom sink. I think that we'll stay in this house if we can until the kids are all grown up. That way if they never leave home, I can move out and leave THEM behind!
