I'm working for a well established Swiss watch company doing mostly inventory, taking in and sending out repairs, and accounting on the store level, as well as all the paper work and banking etc etc.
But it'd be still nice to have another job. Any openings for me in the US? anyone wanna hire me? Please say yes.

Janice wrote:Wow, I bet you come across some good deals on homes for sale.....
Depending on if i go to school at fsu in the spring we are moving into a condo that we have the option to purchase after 12 months and the seller/landlord will pay all the closing costs and possibly hold a second mortgage for us. It is just an option to purchase so we can see if we want to purchase it in the coming months. I guess you could call it a test drive kind of thing. Yeah I have ran into a few deals but, our credit isn't the greatest and we don't have a lot of money so the lease to own thing might come in handy. If we do purchase it from him we might just hold on it and rent it out and try to gain equity and sell in a few years down the road for a profit. Hopefully !

But anything you would buy will build equity. Even a really cheap starter is a good buy. You can pay those off faster and they go up in value just the same as expensive homes. I am sure everyone here has started with a small house and moved up. You cannot expect to be able to purchase a really great house when you are young and starting out, especially when kids are coming along. Hope you find one you like.

I'm a civil engineer working for a consulting firm. Our clients include local government, industry, and private developers (mostly local government, though).
I design public water supply projects including treatment, storage, and distribution, as well as wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal.
Right now, I'm working on the replacement of the pumps at three flood control pumping stations.

This space for rent.
Part time lunch lady for our local school district.
I work at our Middle School, waiting on 7th and 8th Graders. When I took this job, I really wanted to work with Elementary students, the younger the better. Since I recall my daughters being afraid to buy a hot lunch. The lunch ladies back then were a crabby bunch. I never did sub at one of our 6 Elem's but now I've lucked out and found steady work at our Middle School. So a job is a job and I like the group of women I work with. While I would have been nice to smile at a new First Grader with shaky hands holding their tray and trying to get their money out quickly, I'll take this Middle School job. My paycheck helps out.
So I smile at the 7th and 8th Graders - who mostly are in their own worlds and I could be a robot standing there, slinging hash! LOL
But I do love this little job - truly I do. Mostly, I love the hours and schedule!

Yes I sure do.
We have a 2 week xmas break next year as well. The week before xmas off in fact. That will really help with the last minute shopping this family just always seems to do. Even if I shop early (one year in February), my daughters are always running out for something or a last minute invite comes in. Anymore I just have decided that Dec. 15th until Jan. 2nd is just hectic. I still can't believe it but our last reg. school day is Dec. 15th. I've checked the school calendar several times to verify that and the website still says 2 full weeks. I'd better enjoy it b/c I know there will be holiday seasons where it will be cutting it real close (this past year we got out Dec. 23rd).
This schedule just fits our family's schedule perfectly. Who knows, I may like it so much, I'll make this my job until I retire!

Janice - the other route I was considering was working in the clerical field again. Ideally for a doctor's office but I remember well my near 50 hour weeks, my 10 hour days, working half days on xmas eve day - half day, ha - more like mid-afternoon is more like it. We ended up leaving work 2 or 3 hours early. That is NOT a half day! Not when you take your lunch at work.
Back then, when I was hired I was told 8 hour days, well they slowly become 9 and then 10.
For now, working for the school district is more my speed. I applied for teacher aide jobs too but they were filled. I've discovered that the cafeteria, while unglamorous and underappreciated, is perfect for me - I didn't need a new wardrobe. I was going to have to go shopping for the aide job - in a major way. Hit the consignment shops first but in time, need to build up my career section.
The other appeal a doctor's office job had were the uniforms. So in way I'm still wearing them, since we can wear old clothes, something I have a lot of!
