Western philosphy is really bad in treating the individual than the sickness. However, like all heart transplants, airplanes kinda run the same pattern. I have actually been honored enough to assist in heart surgeries, transplants, cosmetic surgeries and the like. The worst case I have ever dealt with was a machete attack. Anyways, airplanes are easy to fly, but landing them is a total different animal. Not anyone can do it..
Oh Boy do I disagree. Patents are people NOT machines and all health care workers in the US have that drilled into them. There are a few nurses and other allied health workers on this board and I think you insulted them.

About the heart surgeon analogy-
I picked up a copy of Malcolm MacPherson's The Black Box today and came across this passage:
Contributing to the mystery of our fears, while we may feel nothing out of the ordinary in the passenger cabin, a drama we never suspect may be unfolding in the cockpit. When things go wrong behind that closed door, often one crippled or failed mechanical system collapses onto another. Suddenly, horns blare, recorded voices shoud, "Terran! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!" Lights flash before the flight crew's eyes. Confusion often results; automatic responses are triggered in men and women who are more highly trained, retrained, and regularly scrutinized for performance than any other professionals in our society-including heart surgeons. In a truly amazing number of incidents we may never read about, these crews bring their airplanes back to land sfely, without the passengers' having been aware that their lives were at risk.
