If your mental alarm wakes you up for landfalls but nothing else, you might be a Hurricane nut.

My mental alarm is broken but it woke me up for Jeanne and Ritas landfalls, the two I didnt have taping ironicly.

If you don't have to run to a dictionary or some other site while reading half the posts in S2K to find out what UTC, SLOSH, GOES, Z, ENSO, EPAC, COC, CPA, ETCZ, VIS, IR etc. etc. etc. stand for AND you're NOT a pro met,... you're decidedly a hurricane (or at least meteorology) nut.

I've been thinking of new ones.

If you've gotten fired more then 5 times because you've been late for work due to the fact you stayed up late to watch a landfall, you might be a Hurricane Nut.

If you know every Hurricane since 1851, you might be a Hurricane nut or have too much time on your hands.

If storm2k is your second home, you might be a Hurricane nut.

If you pray for a major Hurricane to hit you, your an idiot, and you might be a Hurricane nut :cheesy:.

If you make your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband change their name to the name of a historic Hurricane, you might be a Hurricane nut.

If you've memorized the 35 costiest U.S Hurricanes, you might be a Hurricane nut.

If you get pulled over for going 120mph in a school zone and tell the cop, "But I'm gonna miss Talkin Tropics." you might be a Hurricane nut.

If you have more then 20,000 pictures of Hurricanes on your hardrive, you might be a Hurricane nut.

If you throw birthday partys for historic Hurricanes, presents and all, you might be a Hurricane Nut.

You might be a Hurricane Nut if you go to the supermarket, buy a bag of nuts, and write the word "Hurricane" on each of them. :cheesy:

Down here, that would be enough newspaper to fill a small apartment. There hasn't been a local daily newspaper (The New Orleans Times-Picayune and the Baton Rouge Advocate) without some kind of hurricane-related headline or story on the front page since mid-August of last year.

I think we're all looking forward to the day when the names "Katrina" or "Rita" aren't anywhere to be found in the news and metro sections, but that's certainly still a long way off.

If you feel cheated because your name was only used once and then retired, you might be a hurricane nut (David).

I guess it could be worse, you:

1 - Can't wait until they retire your name.

2 - Hope your town is why they retired your name.

3 - Wish you lived through it.

Of couse you go from a hurricane nut to just plain nuts.

1. In my high school thru College years I created laminated cartographic charts, 52” by 126” and numerous other sizes, to track tropical systems in the Northern Hemisphere. I have only 2 of these maps at the present time displayed. They are of the Eastern Pacific through the Atlantic until 10 degrees east longitude.

2. 1988 through 1994 I created about 62 VHS tapes of TV recorded weather programs and records of the AB hurricane seasons.

3. I have the complete record of 2005 on 17 DVD. There is some missing data from 20 July- July 31 because of vacations. Thank god for the DVR what a great tool!
