Let's just hope that ammo is all duds....or at least miss-fires once and a while.

I know I missed it, but decided to get in there this morning and "refamiliarize" myself. It says the topic is "storm2k dating service". Is this a joke?

Anyway will try again, because want to discuss how local area patterns are differing this year from last. Anyone interested, drop me a pm.

All the action around the world are preparing me for the season. I have already urged my parents for the hurricane shutters to be ready for the season and they are thinking in buying a gas generator that will power the whole house in case another Katrina and/or Wilma comes and there is a shortage of electricity.

You know...if I were to add a generator at home, or for my parents, I'd do it with natural gas. At work, we had 180 generators running for Katrina. They were a mix of diesel, propane, and natural gas. The diesel and propane we had to keep filling every few days. The natural gas, however, once it's on, it's on. No worry about trying to get fuel...plus they're really cost efficient.

Yes, natural gas. That's what we are thinking. It will be connected to the house main valve, so when the outage comes, it will just start by itself and then when power comes, go back to rest! It's horrible to get used to the commodities that power gives you and after a hurricane you are like fish out of water, there's nothing to do, and the heat is just impossible. I remember that the second night after Katrina I had to sleep in the bare floor because everything was so hot that I couldn't stand the bed or the sofa.

Yea...definately get an automatic transfer switch. That way you don't have to get wet when the power goes out!

I heard on the radio on the way in that Gov Bush signed a law for tax relief for purchases related to hurricanes (generators)from May 21-June 1.

I think that was done last year, as well. It's a clever way to get more people, more prepared. If the threat of hurricanes alone doesn't induce people to prep, then the chance to save money might. More people prepared, means less burden on response agencies.
