this up coming hurricane season will affect you in more ways than one.
If you think gas prices are high now, just see what happens when the first cane enters the GOM. How about insurance? Lets hope its a busy Atlantic season, but all fish.

Try to secure insurance on a 1927 home! I live inland and I have had two companies since the '04 season bail out on Florida. Trying to secure insurance on my home (which logically has survived more storms in it's lifetime than most of us have been alive) is almost impossible! the ones that will cover it want to charge me more than I owe on the mortgage!

then pay off the mortgage and you wont have to buy insurance since there won't be a bank involved. my policy from citizens doubled but i have to have insurance since the bank requires but i wouldnt have insurance otherwise since my deductable is now sitting at 40k which is double the cost of a new roof.
