"Law and Order: SVU" aired on Sci-Fi Channel

#1 Postby TexasStooge » Fri May 05, 2006 7:39 am

I heard that "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" aired on the Sci-Fi channel last night with 4 of the most "frightening" cases. What I don't understand is why does Sci-fi air "Law and Order"? It's a courtroom drama for crying out loud!!

"Law & Order: SVU" is out of this world, so why not put it on the Sci-Fi channel?

It's more than a courtroom drama, in my opinion, and way more intense than the other L&O's. Some of it is a bit fictional, even if many episodes are "ripped from the headlines." And aren't forensics and the study of criminal behavior both science?

If MTV can stop playing music videos and American Movie Classics can change to American Movie Channel, why not let Sci-Fi Channel join the parade and edit their programming to something that doesn't make sense? :)

  Good point there.

BTW, You forgot to mention TWC reducing live weather coverage for their own "original" programming.

It's most likely because NBC Universal owns the Sci-Fi channel.

that's the ONLY reason I can come up with...that or the budget for Battlestar Galactica broke the channel.

I think they were somehow trying to tie it in with the showing of "American Pyshco" at 10:00pm.

Either they didn't do their homework or I'm forgetting something. American Psycho didn't impress me anyway.

But wasn't the killer in AP a serial killer, but not a rapist or sexual predator? IMO, a tie-in with SVU wouldn't make sense because Dets. Benson and Stabler on SVU always tackle sexually-based offenses, although some are serial acts also. There has to be that additional element in order for a crime to be investigated by the Special Victims Unit.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent would have been a better one to tie in with a movie about serial killers like AP.

Again, that's unless I forgot something about AP. It's been forever and it bored me to tears.
