gtalum - Skyline Chili?!!! I see you live in Florida. However, many former Cincinnatians retire in Sarasota (I'm told that anyway). So you probably have one in your area? You just rose to the top in my opinion!!!! LOL In case anyone is wondering what we're talking about:

Sigh, but I can no longer eat it myself......dang, but it's goooooood! Just ask Skywatch_NC/Eric - he used to live in Cincinnati.

I grew up in Cincinnati. I wish there was one here in Sarasota. I've thought about contacting SKyline and asking about opening a franchise here. I've alwaysw anted to open a restaurant. And you're right, the place is chock full of former Cincinnatians.
There is a location on Clearwater Beach, though. Sometimes we go up there on a Saturday or Sunday for lunch and to hang out at the beach. There's nothing like having some realSkylien Chili while drinking a beer (yes, this one has beer and wine unlike the Cincinnati locations!) and overlooking the Gulf of Mexico from their 2nd story deck.

Eric and glatum - I have a very good from scratch Skyline Chili recipe if you want it. I might have shared it with you Eric.
I found it in a Westside Church's (St. Martin's of Tours in Cheviot) parish cookbook. The donor just says - anonymous!
We've made it several times and everyone asks us - how did you get THE recipe?

Funny enough, I was born in Delhi (well, born at Good Sam, but the first place I lived was Delhi) and grew up mostly in Western Hills, right next to Cheviot.

Or excuse me? Or pardon me?
Tell the truth, have you EVER said that in Florida?
I have and I quickly have to correct myself......could you repeat that? Or say again? LOL
Then again I could maybe get away with just saying Please....in Sarasota! Someone would probably know what the heck I'm talking about.

Mary,
As I recall you posted the chili recipe in the Community Forum here...but for the life of me...I don't seem to remember having copied/pasted it into an email to myself to print and give to my mother.
Will do a search.

I was born in Indiana...but grew up in the Cincy burbs of North College Hill, Oakley and Mt. Healthy...later on lived in Hamilton, OH.
BTW...there's now a Skyline in my birthplace city of Anderson, IN.

My favorite place to eat when I go back home is a pizza chain named Papa Ginos...Man, I cant get enough of that pizza... I swear I eat pizza there every day!! I guess though living here in Houston, when in doubt we go to Logans Roadhouse... They have the best baby back ribs I have ever had!!!

When I have time, I'll post the homemade Skyline Chili recipe. It is so close to the original, if we did a taste taste I don't think people would able to tell which one is from the restaurant. It is that good. Hence, why the donor wouldn't give his/her name in that church cookbook, LOL.....I'll dig it up and add it later.
