They must run gas stations differently there than they do here. Every station that I've seen in this area shows a display of the number of gallons purchased, the price per gallon, and the total purchase price. It's on the computer in front of the clerk and it's printed on the receipt. This display on the computer is constantly running, even for automatic pay-at-the-pump purchases.

I know. You are right about the displays and stuff. I know that at one local station here, the card reader was not working. The employees blamed this on gas drive offs. They kept calling the police. After a week they finally figured it out. No matter which station, there is an inventory done at the end of the manager's shift. THAT is when she/he will catch it.

You need to take a picture of the price and show us.

I believe you, but, man I would love to see it.

Janice, I decided not to take a picture of the price on the pump because i didn't want to draw attention. The lady inside would have seen me doing it.

The pump price on the 87 octane showed 2.75. 89 octane was set at .285 and 91 octane showed 2.95. The guy on the other side of me (Pump 5) was also enjoying the price.

When Tommy went up there (before me) the 2 other customers were buying 89 octane as well. The prices were the same on all of the pumps according to my neighbor.

I did take a picture of the gas station from across the street when i was on my way up there.

I had just filled up on Thursday, so my car didn't take that much gas but i topped it off just the same. Tommy's car was empty and so was Bobby's and they really got ALOT of gas for the special price.

I wish it was here.

One station near the high school in Fairhope (BP) is down to $2.69 since last night.

That was my thought.

Maybe I have an over blow sense of ethics .... but I would have told the attendant.

I'm glad someone voiced this side of the story. I too would have felt compelled to speak up. Thanks Windswept.

And I'm not saying anything against someone else pumping w/o speaking up. I just know it would have been a full tank of gas I would have felt guilty about (since I wait until my tank is low to fill up). Now if this would have been my lawn mower gas can, well then that's a different story (1.5 gallon can).

Goes to show you that you have to be at the right place at the right time. I wish I could spot a good deal.

With the gas situation the way it is, my brother, neighbors and I didn't feel the slightest bit guilty. In fact we laughed about it all day long.

If that makes us bad people.. so be it!!!

Customers were startled to find gas priced $.002 a gallon at a Plainfield, Ind., gas station. What would you do if you saw this?

This seems to be going on alot. Funny how all these stories are from the Jacksonville News 4 Website and they made no mention of the incident here on Sunday. I guess the News never heard about it.

ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis police have arrested a man suspected of reprogramming service station gas pumps, allowing him to steal gasoline.

The crime cost several stations tens of thousands of dollars as hundreds of motorists drove away with free gas before operators realized what had happened.

Police were called Friday to a Mobil Food Mart. Employees there had taken down the license plate of a suspect's car, which was also recorded by store surveillance cameras.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man. When they searched the Cadillac Escalade he was driving, they discovered keys to pump lock boxes, and code books with computerized programs for the pumps.

The suspect is a recent college graduate with a degree in accounting.

Honesty is honesty, regardless of the situation. Further, the local station owners are not the one making record profits. Often they barely break even or even lose money on gas.

You are so right. They are just making a small profit, so they are really taking a beating with these prices.
