Springtime Kittens

#1 Postby NWIASpotter » Fri May 12, 2006 11:42 am

Even though it doesn't feel to much like spring right now, the cats must have thought it did. We have two kittens up here at my house that just recently have got there eyes opened. Even though the mother hasn't taken them out of the shed yet I decided they could get out and see the sun for the first time. I got a couple images of their timidness to do anything besides lay in the grass...

Oh, they are darling. You will love watching them grow. Our outside cat just had her third litter of kittens. She is a minx, some say manx. She is tailess. Some of her kittens have no tails, some have normal long tails and one had half a tail. It looks like a firecracker went off, haha. We bring them in when they are one day old with their mama. We don't want them to die outside. Then when they are about a year old, we let me out for good. They usually stay close.

These three have no tails at all...

Well you can come down here and grab some... I know last year at one time we had 21 cats! Usually at least a dozen kittens.

Janice I have a cat exactly like the tiger one you have shown there. She has no tail and an attitude problem and she is very territorial even against us. If she is sitting on the couch and you try to sit there she gets mad, hisses and then jumps down and turns her head away like she is ignoring you. She hold the grudge too but, I just yell at her and say fine you wann act like that be a jerk see if i care. Later she comes up to me and apologizes in her way for being mean by rubbing up against us and then meowing to get pet.

Yes, Lucy has had three litters here. Some have tails and some not. Both male and female are tailess. I have had so many cats, I really find they all have different personalities. I have never had a mean cat, tho. I raise all them in the house, so they become tame right away. We have had mean cats come in the yard, I get rid of them quickly. These three are the ones John got out of our front tree where Lucy made a nest the day before ts Jeanne was heading for us. They were only a couple days old and John had to wear a glove and have a stick cause Lucy was really attacking him. We knew with a ts coming, they could die. Lucy came right in the house after John, haha.

She is not by nature a mean cat but, she doesn't want people messing where she is sitting. Basically thats all. Otherwise she is the sweetest cuddly cat I have ever had. Funny you say about a hurricane cause 2 days before the hurricane came both of my cats hid under the bed and would not come out. I actually had to put thier food dish under the bed and stick thier litter box near there also. Occasionally my tiger cat would come out of the bedroom and meow frantically as to say, "what are you doing get under the bed with us there is a storm coming!!!"

Talk about a big job during cane season, just gathering up all the cats and bringing them inside. I have to put them in separate rooms, some of them. Plus the dog. I will not leave my cats outside with a ts or cane heading for us.

Another great thing of living in Iowa and having them all able to fend for themselves. They can hunt for themselves and know to head to their small 'cathouse' or the barn for shelter. No Hurricanes up here! :D

Oh, they grow up just as cute. By the time they are a year old, they have formed their personalities and become the head of the household.....

How could you not love these guys. This is Muffin, our Traditional Siamese, who passed away last year. They have their own shabby chic sofa on the cat porch.....

The tailess white cats is a little bigger in this pic... real bed buddies

Talk about darling cats. You have to be crazy about them. People who have never had a cat don't know what they are missing.
