Yeah, the internal structure of Chanchu is very shady. It is definately not something I'd expect a category two typhoon to look like. I think JMA is on the ball, and has always been on the ball, with this system.

I say 80 knots at the moment. Strengthing to 95 to 100 by 12 to 18 hours...Then maxing around 115 knots by 24 to 30 hours.

Defiantly impressive, and still improving.

We'll see how that cold front to the north affects Chanchu. Shear and dry air should increase as Chanchu approaches Hong Kong. I believe JTWC's forecast is going to be a large bust. Chanchu should begin extratropical transition as it nears Hong Kong.

The inner core is wraping its self like Katrina was doing about 6 hours after it made it back into the Gulf. Also when it was heading at florida the eye was wraping into its self(If it where to have stayed off shore might of been much bigger) This bugger is going to do something big...Will it weaken before Hong kong sure. But if I was them I would be getting ready to get out of there.

Chanchu is as defined as Don King's hair. This lack of organization should help it in the long run. It's evident that the Philippines really disturbed the organizational process.

With all due respect... comparing Chanchu to Katrina is like comparing yourself to Babe Ruth.

No forecast out there has anything remotely comparable to Katrina. Even the JTWC, which initialized too high, so the forecast is a bit suspect, isn't to the level of Katrina. Take that, and add the fact that shear will be increasing (thanks to the cold front) and dry air will be increasing... I think your Katrina comparison is a bit over the top.

I don't think this will be a katrina but its acting a little like it. 115 knots 24 to 30 hours.
