Not a whole lot in the 8:05 TWD, however, but it does look interesting.

MCS courtesy of a late spring cool front pushing into the GoM...off a tail lobe of the big low that's been spinning over the Great Lakes the last several days. Bringing "Chamber of Commerce" weather to much of the western and northern Gulf Coast the next few days. Summer's coming, so enjoy it while it lasts!

Andrew '92, Katrina '05, Gustav '08, Isaac '12, Ida '21...and countless other lesser landfalling storms whose names have been eclipsed by "The Big Ones".

Good god, look at that. We've seen tropical storms not take up that much Gulf area.
I doubt that makes it to Florida. I never remember big mesoscale systems in the Gulf making it over here.....they usually pulse down substantially or dissipate, much to my chagrin.
Persistent convection along tail end of a front in the Gulf....in a couple of weeks, we'll be looking for possible tropical development out of these things.

At this point all it is is a MCC, as Doc stated above. MCC's can develop into something if all the conditions are correct, but it takes time and this complex just came our over water last night. No need to get excited, at least not yet. I don't even know what the current conditions are in that area as I haven't had time to check, but my guess is that they are somewhat hostile. maybe someone who has more time than I do can give us an update on the conditions in the West GOM in relation to possible TC development potential??
