More Problems With Alligators

i think gators are getting a bad rep here. they are a part of nature, and i am getting mad that they are being slaughtered

True helen, they are a part of nature, but you would rather people be slaughtered?

animals dont slaughter people, they just remind them they arent immune to being part of the food chain. Man is the ultimate predator without regard for the consequences of its actions.

:D Gator is soooooo tasty, fried just right in a VERY light breading, and dipped in honey-mustard sauce!!! My mouth is watering now... might have to get some for dinner. BETTER than chicken.

Even if we are at this point over-populated with gators....Rain is RIGHT, it is WRONG to slaughter them because of stupid humans causing gator-human conflicts. If people paid attention to their surrounding environment, and acted appropriately (ie no dogs or kids near ponds, rivers, etc.... and maybe didn't dangle their feet over gator infested areas..... then maybe less of this sort of thing would happen!!

People should wise up-----prob won't happen.

So we arent ever suppost to go swimming in any body of fresh water??
Gators are in EVERY body of fresh water in Florida. Lakes, rivers, and springs, and even the ocean sometimes. I happen to enjoy swimming and some of these people were not being stupid. I never walk or let my dog swim in the lakes around here, but I as well as my whole family do enjoy swimming in the springs. And you think it is a state or national park that everything would be just fine. And this time for this one woman it was not. I don't know I don't think these were attacks out of ignorance of the people that got attacked. I think it is because its spring time and gators are on the move now, and also people feeding them when they should never ever do so.

the odd thing is pit bulls kill more people than alligators do. alligators arent a part of mans domain, and we arent part of theirs. i see no reason for hysteria

What a stupid pet trick! Some people will do anything for money..

Pit Bulls are trained and brought up improperly by stupid humans.. Gators are just doing whats natural.. No hysteria here just taking notice of the gruesome reality..

We have tons of alligators here in Louisiana too. When I was a kid, (before Hurricane Andrew totally destroyed it) we had a fishing camp below Houma not far from the Gulf of Mexico. There were alligators in the bayou. We were just kids and thought nothing of it. We would jump from the wharf into the bayou below for a quick swim. It is amazing none of us drowned or got bit. Once I accidentaly fell in, I was leaning over to feel how warm the water was. Fell in with all my clothes on and shoes too. Gators were not far away. I would not even think of swimming in that water today.

I don't feel safe swimming in anything else other than a swimming pool. But, I LOVE the beach with a passion. I went to Destin last August and the water was so gorgeous. I could not help but to go swimming in it. But, I was looking around constantly to see if I saw anything in the water. I could not relax and was scared to get away from the crowds of people. A local girl from Louisiana who lived less than an hour drive from me, died from a shark attack in Destin barely a month before. The girl actually died on my birthday which is June 25th.

You notice at the very end the gator has his mouth wide open again..It's almost like it's saying anyone else want to try..

I was watching and show lastnight about the attack on a landscape worker on Sanibel Island in 2004 I think.. They went into great detail to explain how this gator experienced lady was attacked. The gator was massive and came up from the water 15' away. She lived the attacked only to die from a resulting blood infection. I was pretty amazing..

Thats one thing a lot of ppl dont think about. Gators mouths are NASTY and teeming with bacteria. Get bitten by one and you could die from septicemia even if the wound itself is not serious.

i was on the way across aligator alley today where i have been many time and i have seen one or two in total but today i counted over 50 in the ditch that goes the length of the alley
