Robertson Says God Told Him About Storms

#1 Postby HurricaneJoe22 » Fri May 19, 2006 2:56 am

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - In another in a series of notable pronouncements, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson says God told him storms and possibly a tsunami will hit America's coastline this year.

Robertson has made the predictions at least four times in the past two weeks on his news-and-talk television show ``The 700 Club'' on the Christian Broadcasting Network, which he founded.

Robertson said the revelations about this year's weather came to him during his annual personal prayer retreat in January.

``If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms,'' Robertson said May 8. On Wednesday, he added, ``There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest.''

Robertson has come under intense criticism in recent months for suggesting that American agents should assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip.

Not a very bold statement... Anyone could basically claim it and get away with being right... Name a year that America isn't lashed by storms and "there MAY be.." doesn't help either ;)

There actually have been periods when America has been sparred by storms...I think the longest we have gone without a hurricane landfall was over 3 years! In this active phase, however, this will likely never be the case, so his statement is probably going to be correct. I mean anyone could come out and say, "America will be lashed by storms this year" and chances are...it will be. As for the tsunami in the NW, he is doing a good job of covering it up (if it doesn't happen) by saying "there well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pac. NW". Now, if it does not happen, he can use the excuse that he said it was only possible not a definite.

Or how about those cruise liners and gambling ships who dump the poo-poo legally only three miles off shore.

He does this all the time. Ignore him. It's usually in response for not getting his way quickly on a political issue.

I agree anyone could technically state this and be correct. We are most likely going to have 1 or 2 hurricanes hit this year. And the tsunami he states "There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest.'' Even if there is one and the area is wrong he'd still be praised for being correct. They discussed this guy on the morning show yesterday on the way to work and played the audio of him stating this. I for one believe he is correct about storms but only due to proven history and last years storms. Not bc someone told him. imo

Robertson is not the sharpest tool in the shed, nor even the shiniest. What a joke

If I heard the Lord right about 2006

this is my favorite part, IF I heard him right? When God talks, you better be listening and paying attention!
