John and I basically have a lot of health issues. John has diabetes 2 which he takes medication for and it is doing well. He also has an enlarged heart. He is fine with that too. He has some more check ups concerning that tho.
Me... about 5 or so years ago, I went to the store. When I got out of the car, I could not stand up. It felt like someone lit a match inside my leg. It burned terribly. I went to a specialist and he wired up my legs, haha, and said my legs were fine and blood was flowing good. He sent me to a specialist, neurologist, who after many tests said I had lots of spurs on my back. He said when I walked, the spurs would tough my main nerves causing pain and inflamation. He sent me to a pain specialist who gave me imflamatory medication for it. Since 5 years ago, taking this medication, I have had no pain. It has kept the imflamation down. The doctor said no surgery. Only as a last resort. He said as long as the medication is working, great. Also, I had severe restless leg syndrome. I would be up all night crying cause I was so tired. He gave me medicaion for that too, and now it is gone. I have so much confidence in all my doctors down here. John is so funny, he really checks them out first. Also, my bones have been deteriorating for all those years too. Within a six month period, my teeth all fell out. I had a 75% bone loss in my gums. So now I have pretty new white teeth... I am on a lot of medication and everything is working. Other than that, I am perfectly fine, perfect heart and never a sign of cancer. I just get all the odd things. I am felling just great.

I dont have any that I know of... But I am going to the eye doctor tomorrow, I think I have that fungal infection that is associated with the saline solution with MoistureLock... I noticed that I have used that saline solution twice in the past 2 weeks, and I didnt know of the recall, and both times I got an irration.. Well this time its reallllllly bad... I thought it was pink eye, but when I thought about it, I looked at my saline solution, and it was the one with moisturelock... So.... Hopefully it can be fixed with the drops or something... I did see where you can contact Terry Bryant, a lawyer who goes after major companies, like Vioxx.... I think I have a pretty legit case, and it really hurts!! Why does this have to happen to me!! lol...

Let's see....like cajungal I have colon cancer in my family's past - my father and aunt died from it. I had rectal cancer in 1999 myself (Stage 1, no treatment, caught very early). I now suffer from chronic IBS-like symptoms, for the rest of my life. The colon is 5 feet long and middle parts can be resected, with the patient resuming a normal diet and lifestyle. I wasn't so lucky, my tumor was barely inside so they removed 15 inches from the lowest part. I am what I eat now, how true those words are. It's been a 7 year struggle to be "normal", use any bathroom and be done fast. To go back to a family function, movie, shopping, etc. Yes - I've gone everywhere. I cannot help it but you know what, at least I am out in the world and not holed up at home in my bathroom. I eat very plain foods, try to exercise, keep my stress levels as low as possible, skip meals when I have to and don't even bother explaining any of this to the folks that can eat extremely spicy foods, at anytime, anywhere and have no repurcussions. I can eat 5 M & M's, one tablespoon of Skyline Chili over a 3 way, one chocolate chip cookie when I really want to risk it!

I am alive and that's what is important. I've taken a break from doctors though so this summer I'm definitely going to have a GYN check, eye exam, 3 chipped teeth fixed, etc. Our medical insurance is lousy - very high deductibles and copays. It's just a good thing we didn't have this level of coverage when I had 2 major surgeries in 99, combined I was in for 12 days back then. Our out of pocket expense was $1400.00. I shudder to think what it would be today.

I need glasses all the time and would love the laser surgery for my eyes so I can go without glasses. Our insurance does not cover it, but I heard Medicare does. I will have to wait 4 more years to get that done. I don't want to spend the out of pocket money now.
Hey aging isn't bad. My medication is enabling me to have a great quality of life and I am in no pain.

I guess you could say I am a legal drug addict...

I told John if it gets to the point where I am down, get me a fancy wheel chair, cause it will continue traveling all the time. I am not a bit vain. Just push me up those Cruise ship ramps and I will have as much fun as anyone else.

Ditto! I was always afraid that I might repeat the history of my mother's maladies, but after talking to several of her doctors after she passed away, it seems that most, if not all, of her conditions were a result of surviving concentration camps as a child.

I didnt have to endure that experience, so i'm sure i'll be better off health-wise than her and her family. My dad's family lives to be 100 or more, so I'me slightly reassured there.

My father died last year at age 75 and looking back I founs it amazing that he lived so long and functioned with the myriad of ailments he had. High blood pressure, coronary artery disease, diabetes, kidney probs. He was still going about his normal routine, driving, flirting with the ladies, etc until about 2 months before he died then it was downhill fast. Ive had minor heart issues that need to be monitored to be sure they dont turn into major ones. Blood pressure is fine considering im a heavy smoker.
