Panic Room

#1 Postby Janice » Wed May 17, 2006 12:51 pm

Jodi Foster starred in the movie Panic Room. It was about a house that had a secret room behind a wall that no one would know was there. The purpose of the room is a hiding place in case someone would break into your house, etc.
You would have a place for your family to hide and be safe. It would have a phone, etc. to contact people of the breakin. I am sure it had other purposes too.

I have never heard of this. Has anyone seen a house or apartment that had one? I have never heard before anyone talking about them.

More and more high end houses seem to have them these days and they seem like a good idea. Why not have somewhere totally safe incase of an emergency?

Some now seem to be centered around rooms that can also withstand high winds so it becomes a hurricane/tornado shelter.

I've seen this movie a while back...but have not thought about it. I thought it was like a fictitious kind of room in a house, Didn't realise that a "panic room" actually existed... sounds like a good idea though.

Yes, if you were building a house, you could just add an extra room, small like a bathroom but big enough to hold some chairs, etc. You could hide it behind a closet or somewhere.
