For the Ladies at Storm2K - Wet N Wild Eyeshadow

Last week I saw some pretty pale green and purple eyeshadow at K-Mart and bought some to update my Spring / Summer makeup.

I wore it for a few days and noticed my eyes felt very strange, like I was getting an eye infection. They felt scratchy, dry, itchy and irritated but not red.

I thought maybe I was having allergy symptoms or getting pinkeye in both eyes and almost made an Eye Doctor's appointment to get them checked out.

Anyway, I wore my regular Avon makeup yesterday and this morning and my eyes feel normal again. I realized last night it must have been the Wet N Wild eyeshadow causing an allergic reaction.

Just wanted to let you ladies know to watch out for that brand of eye makeup. I've never had any eyeshadow affect me like this before so maybe there is something wrong with it.

Oh, I hope you are ok now. I just use a charcoal color and apply it with a brush. I have been lucky as not to get any type of infection or allergy. I use a dark brown eyeliner, pencil for upper and lower too. I do have trouble with things to put on the lashes tho. Sometimes it does not work well for me. But, I never wear makeup at home. I only wear it when I leave the house, and when I do wear it, I really wash it off good so my eye area stays clean. I think anything you put around the eyes should be cleaned good when done wearing.

The only makeup I seem to be able to use is Clinique. A friend of mine sells Mary Kay, and I tried that. The reaction I had to the product really scared me.

You know, I have always just bought my makeup at Walgreens. They carry all the named brands and I have never had any bad results, plus I think I have saved a lot of money.

But, what I do do and have for about 10 years is, I put preparation H on my face every night before I go to bed. Poor, John, it is a little stinky. When I get up and wash my face, it is so soft. I think it helps tighten my neck area which is beginning to get the turkey affect, haha. And, it is a lot cheaper than a lot of facial creams out there.

I've heard Preparation H (Cream or ointment) is great for preventing wrinkles! Beauty Pageant contestants and models use it all the time for a quick facelift effect.

I've never tried it myself. There's also an anti-wrinkle cream called StriVectin that is really good but it costs a fortune.

You must be doing something right Janice. Your skin looks lovely in your picture.

Janice, try Blincinc products. I read about these products in Prevention Magazine a couple years ago. I'll never use any other eyeliner or mascara as long as I live. These products are well worth the money spent.

I don't usually buy really cheap brands of makeup because it irritates my skin. I use Clinique for my face. Blush, powder, etc... And usually use the Loreal eyeliner, mascara and eye shadow. Usually I only wear eye makeup for night wear if I go out. I don't wear much make-up for work because I am always running around.

I use Yves Rocher, Ahava, Borghese, Shiseido, Bobbi Brown, and Dior cosmetics, skin care, and bath products. As far as drugstore-type stuff goes, I've also tried the new Vital Radiance line. Pricey for drugstore stuff (about $20)but good quality.

I still use cold cream to take the makeup off and Noxema to wash my face. The rest of the routine is with one of the above.

I don't use Wet n Wild - maybe for nail polish. I hops your eyes are alright!

I generally use Maybelline - Crown Jewels eye shadow.

The one thing I never skimp on is moisturizer and eye cream. I slather it on baby

I just wash my face good with soap and water before applying "my thing" each night.
In the morning I wash it all off with soap and water. I have never had a problems with soaps on my face.

Janice, your skin is absolutely gorgeous! The thing with me is my skin is SO sensitive that I have to be careful what I put on it. I made the mistake of using Oil of Olay - ONCE. I was so swollen it was not funny. So I don't experiment much

I think if you just use Vaseline lightly on your face, it would work just as good as any expensive product. I have used Ponds and liked it too.

What a great thread, and I am glad your eyes are back to normal with the Avon. I strictly use Clinique and estee Lauder as far as make up goes...never had a problem with any of it...each line has something I prefer over the other, so I mix it up. I use a gel pack on my eyes everyday also...helps relieve the puffiness. I lay out in the sun everyday, so my skin needs lots and lots of moisturizing...I have recently been using some Elizebeth Arden moisturizers and eye cremes...the results are OK...I'll never have beautiful skin like Janices, because I've got 36 years of being a beach bum, sun goddess under my skin..hee hee...but I feel healthier and prettier tanner, so thats what counts! :O)
