Do you shop out of catalogs much?

I do a lot out of Penneys catalog.

I "shop" both online, and using catalogs. Frankly, the online stores are easier to access, and the wait time is minimalized.

Besides, the shops I "visit" are highly specialized for a VERY small clientele (WW II militaria collectors); but, even at that, I have about 35 links in my "Favorites" folder.

If I could afford it, I would do a lot of my shopping this way.

My favorite is Lands End. I buy off-season on their overstocks page. Or an item from their Saturday sale, you have to "get there early" b/c by mid-day many items are sold out, but sale prices are great. I got an $85 swim suit for $25, a $150 winter coat for $50, all of my corduroy pants sell for $39 full price, I've never paid over $20 for them. You just have to watch for their sales - overstock sale pages are updated every Wednesday and Saturday. If you have to return an item, you can take it to Sears and they won't charge you shipping to return it.

LL Bean is another and finally, Eddie Bauer. However, with EB you pay a $3 processing fee on each online order. That is in addition to tax and shipping. And their sale prices are not near as good as LE.

Almost each and every day, I have an item on I purchased from LE. And I can honestly say I own only one item that was full price (a black pea coat, my xmas present a few years ago). To anyone who thinks LE is high priced, you just have to know how to navigate their website. Online catalogs have sale or clearance pages. If you can't find them, just enter sale and you'll find it.

I've also ordered items from Crate & Barrel this way too.

I really don't enjoy shopping, online is more my style.

Good topic. I think if you search, we discussed catalogs and there might be an old topic, with saved website links.

I usually do it the old fashion way and go out and shop unless it is a speciality item that I can not find anywhere else then I shop on line for it. I like to look at magazines but generally do not buy much that way.

I don't buy clothes at Penneys, I like A.B. Lambdin for summer clothes. Of course, I just shop their sales.

I'll buy from a catalog occasionally, but I do much more shopping online. I know how to find the deals. :) And of course, I shop in person.

Like you Kelly, I know how to find the deals too. I work in a school cafeteria so I don't need office wear but here's a site with current fashion and great prices. Somewhere along the line I heard about it:

http://www.chadwicks.com/

My 28 year old niece orders clothing from Chadwicks but I haven't so far. I'm not sure if the clothes are made well or not (like Lands' End are).

Talbots is another - check online for sale prices.

I shop at Policeone.com, Chief Supply.com, Lightning Powder.com and a few other police related websites, that have escaped my memory for the moment, for most of my job related stuff and of course CABELA'S sporting goods 8-)

I just purchased a Lands' End wool lined blazer in dark grey, almost 2/3rd's off the orig. price. Since I don't have a casual but dressy blazer like this, I decided it was time to update my winter wardrobe. Took me 5 minutes, if that to order it. My kind of shopping!

But again, you have to look for clearance and sale pages to find these deals. They are there - if you look. I love to find a bargain like this.

I shop 97% online/catalog for clothing.

Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, Sundance, Land's End, Activa, Title 9 Sports, Eddie Bauer, Soft Surroundings, Sahalie, TravelSmith, various bike/running places.

My UPS guy hates me, but the catalog people avenge him by sending me 20 catalogs A DAY.

The nice thing about shopping on the net is, it has all the main stores. You can buy any brand from any store and you can just sit back and watch the prices go down and down. Your blazer will be great. You will be able to match with skirts and slacks and it should last you forever. Nice blazers do not go out of style.

Yes, and by the time you hit the shopping center to shop for sales, all the stuff is sold. I think you get a better variety from the stores online. These stores are smart. They know people are shopping more online so they will cater to them.

Janice - this new blazer is the shorter length. I have one that is all wool with brown suede lapels, but it's long and very outdated! And I know if I don't like it, I can easily return it to my local Sears. I carefully cut open the plastic bags online items come in before I decide to keep them.

One time I couldn't decide against a size 8 or 10 dress from Coldwater Creek. I kept comparing my measurements to the size charts and finally called the 800 #. The saleslady gave me the actual measurements of that specific dress, for the waist, bust, etc. areas. I didn't even know they could do that! I ordered an 8, it was generously sized. Now I remember to call for details like this. They will tell you if a garment is tight fitting or not. That is very helpful info when ordering!

These LE items are truly new merch, from last season. Nothing wrong with it, it's just not this current season. At least 50% off usually. My kind of deal!

I thought since we have this thread going already, I'd mention I just received an email from Eddie Bauer. Their Outlet prices (pretty good) are 30% off, until Monday. That's not a bad deal! Wish I could go crazy at these prices and I may buy nothing, but it's not everyday you see sale prices like this at Eddie Bauer.

Good rid of all my credit/debit cards so if I want anything I wait till I get enough for a money order, then it's time for Aunt Annie's, Joanne's, and I always check out the Cabella's catalog so we can plan a road trip to get what we want :D
