FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

CLOUDINESS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER PORTIONS OF THE NORTHWESTERN GULF

FORMATION IN THIS AREA. HOWEVER...A NON-TROPICAL LOW COULD FORM IN
ASSOCIATION WITH THE FRONT LATER TONIGHT OR FRIDAY.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
FRIDAY.

FORECASTER BEVEN.......At any rate LOTS of rain

Our local met was just on and he said that this non-tropical low will ride up into south central or south eastern Louisiana tomorrow bringing very heavy rains. He used the word "explosive" to describe the thunderstorm development that will occur tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what occurs.

The key words... "surface trough" are important for any potential development with this feature in the Gulf.

NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
1030 PM EDT THU JUN 5 2003

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

CLOUDINESS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE OVER PORTIONS OF THE
NORTHWESTERN GULF OF MEXICO. SURFACE OBSERVATION INDICATE THAT A
NON-TROPICAL LOW PRESSURE AREA MAY BE FORMING ABOUT 200 MILES
EAST-SOUTHEAST OR CORPUS CHRISTI TEXAS. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO
SIGNS OF ORGANIZATION AND UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE CURRENTLY NOT
FAVORABLE FOR TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IN THIS AREA. HOWEVER...
THE LOW WILL BE MONITORED FOR SIGNS OF POSSIBLE TROPICAL CYCLONE
DEVELOPMENT AS IT MOVES NORTHEASTWARD TOWARDS THE NORTHERN GULF
COAST. LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SYSTEM SHOULD
SPREAD INLAND ACROSS THE NORTHERN GULF COAST LATER TONIGHT AND
FRIDAY.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
SATURDAY.

FORECASTER BEVEN

The interaction between this low and the stationary front to it's N will likely produce a lot of rain for the LA/MS/AL/NW FL areas over the next 36 hours. Monitor your local weather service closely in case flooding situations begin to develop.

We are getting drenched here in the Fl PH now. Our local MET was saying this morning "What we are seeing in the GOM sure looks ominous but will be nothing more than a severe storm producer"
We are under flash flood warnings now and it is forecast to continue for the next 36-48 hours. RAIN RAIN RAIN!!!

If your getting soaked now, it looks like you are going to be getting a heck of a lot more rain. Stay safe and don't leave home without your umberalla.

The threat for heavy (some flooding?) rains and gusts is probably east of here the way things look to me. Ice up those beers if you live on the MS, AL or FL gulf coasts. I smell a warmup for the meat of the season. You can dream about what I think you'll be seeing late summer while enjoying a good buzz. Just pick out something better than a generic bud or miller lite.

Cheers.
