The Dukes of Hazzard was terrible in my opinion. I realize the old television series was kind of corny and had some odd humor, but the movie in my opinion, had that stupid, shallow, degrading and vulgur type humor ( not sure how it can be considered humor ) that seems to be the norm in alot of movies these days.

Don't get me wrong, I really, really wanted to like BBM. But the movie just never conveyed to me *why* they fell in love with each other. I guess in most romantic movies--that I enjoy--I fall a little in love with one of the characters...neither of these two were all that endearing to me :)

I kept wanting to scream at Heath Ledger to spit out the danged marbles already.

Oh my poor Heath... he will always be in my heart as he appeared in A Knight's Tale.

I felt a little disappointed with BBM as well but not for the way the story was told or filmed. I just waited too darn long to see it and wished I had gone out right away to see it in smaller, more independent theaters. By the time we saw it (Blockbuster rental), I knew the entire story. Even the behind the scenes story - Heath Ledger falling in love on the set and a baby was born of that. There just wasn't anything I didn't know about this film.

So that said, the next time a breakout film comes out, I'm seeing it. Before the Hollywood press gets a hold of it....

Fried Green Tomatoes is a great movie. :D

Jessica Tandy did a stellar job in that one. :)

I loved Driving Miss Daisy. As I said before, I will watch any movie with Morgan Freeman in it...

10.5 Apocolyspe

I just couldn't suspend disbelief.....which is odd because sci-fi is no problem for me.

but the continent splitting in half well all the wrong wrong earth science just made me wish i hadn't tuned in.

Just plain worst movie IMO - Kingpin, although Gigli comes in a close second.

Worst movie that I hoped would be good, but was let down - Spanglish.

I try to see some films for the sake of studying them, even if it's not a particular genre I like or a film that would really entertain me. I'm not a fan of sci-fi/fantasy stuff so the Harry Potter and LOTR movies weren't that enjoyable for me, but I wouldn't say they're bad because for those people who like that stuff, I'm sure they were great. Then again, I do see some movies just for the shameless enjoyment and escape from reality for two hours (mostly action and comedy for that purpose). So, in regards to that line of thought, I'd really have to say Spanglish was one of the worst. I was up for a comedy and instead I just got more of the same from the movie I had just seen earlier that same week - Closer. Closer was billed as a drama, Spanglish as a comedy. But both had that same "I love you, but I'm with her...I love you, but I'm with him...we can't be together, oh, but let's cheat a little" storyline going on. Both were crappy, IMO.

As far as best movies go, my list of "best" would be different than my list of "favorites." "Chinatown," "Godfather," "Casablanca," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (Brokeback Mountain, part I?) would be on the list of best. "Forrest Gump," "Grease," "Fallen Angel," "Two Mothers For Zachary" would be on my list of favorites, mostly because of the scripts (except for Grease :) ).

It will be hard to beat Forrest Gump as a great movie. That is a classic and how the writers thought to put all the stuff in the plot, I will never know. The smiley face, etc.
