Well worring about something never really keeps it from happening. But I do agree with LSU. Crisis does tend to lead to panic and disorder. If people panic there may be supply shortages from people not willing to go to work. Most people on this board should be well supplied to deal with anything that may happen as alot of people have hurricane or earthquake kits.

Can it move from animal to animal. I mean if humans and birds can get it, then what about our pets? Our pets play outside and who knows what they can bring inside.

Janice,
H5N1 (Bird flu) has been found in cats and dogs, as well as pigs and fish. There is no indication that these animals are serving as a disease vector to humans. Cats have demonstrated the ability to infect other cats so they could serve as a vector but so far there is not enough research to show a human threat. Oh Yeah I forgot ferrets and Martens have also been infected.

Short answer is we don't know the potential threats from our pets but it stands to reason that mammalian species can transmit this to other mammals

They are thinking it might have been genetic. Or they've been able to contain it(just because 7 people get it doesn't automatically mean a pandemic has began, if health officials find out soon enough).

To the person who said to wake him/her when the number hits 100, WAKE UP! Numbers are already well above 100.

BUT, we actually DON'T know what the Human to Human virus mortality would be. One thing people need to remember is that we have no cases of this disease in Western society. Before we panic we need to wait and see how true Western medicine distributed in Western facilities can treat the virus. Until then, don't worry. Over the past few years we've heard of the great coming pandemics of SARS, Mumps, Bubonic Plague, and other flu viruses. You can't plan, so do something more useful. 8-)

It has been confirmed from WHO that this was not human to human. In just a normal little bird flu outbreak. Nothing to worry about.
