The Yucatan Blob 05/25/06

Any thoughts on this convection emerging from Belize this morning? It's flaring up nicely. I checked reports and the lowest pressure I could find was just north of the convection...around 1010.8mb. Shear is 10-20kts here and decreasing.

It looks like the pretty ball is moving north or northeast and may emerge over the western Carribean later today. Any thoughts? (nothing else to talk about right now)

It looks like its skimming the coast not moving over the Caribbean.

Tailgater, there's a blob in the BOC? I hadn't noticed that. I did hear that our chances of rain for this weekend have dropped somewhat with the moisture already in the GOM heading east towards Florida.

Just a Blob wanna be, the Tstorms in Bay Of Camphece should increase from what we are seeing this morning, just a hunch I have.
The trough that has been across the GOM all week has dissipated except for a little piece down there , the low level winds still show a little turning. I could just as easily be totally wrong.

The new 12Z GFS is showing possible Tropical development in that area next week!! It is possible. If it does develop a slow northward motion would be the heading.

Though if you look at it closely, the convection that is over Nicaragua is starting to grow.
