Before TV and Computers
When our grandparents, etc. took a timeout from work, what do you suppose they did for a half hour or so. No TV or Internet.
Maybe they laid down and listened to the radio.
Maybe they just sat out on the porch and looked around for a bit.

I know what they did around here - they had "a little lunch". Which was not really so little, but that is what they said. Maybe a Minnesota thing; but at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. (and maybe 8 p.m.) it was time for coffee, cookies, doughnuts, and maybe a sandwich, depending on how hard you had been working - my grandparents followed this schedule.

Hmmm, my parents bought a tv when I was 7 (in the 60's)we read a lot, talked, chores, crocheted, emboidered, and had a lot of quality time. I miss it (and I haven't watched tv since 95, so I'm not missing much at all from the threads I've been reading the shows dont sound interesting anyway)

I remember back when TV was only two channels and I read alot. I read our entire set of Wold Book Encyclopedias. OK, I didn't read every article, but I leafed through them pretty hard and read tons of the articles.
I'd imagine that for adults, daily chores took more time that they do now. I also remember my parents spending a lot of time reading newspapers and magazines.

Well, back in those days, the kids would be outside playing all day long and the Fathers likely came home from work around 5 or 6 pm and then
we would eat Supper together and talk about the Day's events. During the Summer we would generally play Ping Pong or Volleyball or Badminton in the Backyard until Sundown. I would usually stay in the Backyard using my telescope while my Brother and Parents would listen to the radio or music (78's) on the phonograph. Then it was usually to bed by 10 pm listening to the News on the radio before going to sleep.
