The deadliest war in the world

#1 Postby Janice » Sun May 28, 2006 2:45 pm

Congo's simmering conflict has killed 4 million

Some wars go on killing long after they end.

In Congo, a nation of 63 million people in the heart of Africa, a peace deal signed more than three years ago was supposed to halt a war that drew in belligerents from at least eight different countries, producing a record of human devastation unmatched in recent history.

How long do these people have to suffer in Africa. Aids, starvation, slaughter, rape, etc. It just does not seem fair at all. It sometimes makes me feel really guilty when I complain about something.

That is what happens when there is no oil to be had in the country. In other words, there is nothing of significants there so no other government cares.

What bothers me is that they don't mind spreading it in the news and in our faces, but what is anyone doing about it? To just allow these people to continue to suffer is senseless. Yes, you are right. There is no money in it, no reason to spend money on helping them. What a shame.

Human life is the reason why we should spend on money to save them. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize how it could be us in their place.

Actually....some of the components in your cell phones come from minerals mined in this part of the world. It's only one of a handful of places where this mineral can be found. It's called Coltan.
