Have you ever had an animal or neighbors pet come in your yard and ruin something or maybe hurt YOUR pet?
We have found a couple of our cats over the years laying dead in our yard thinking a dog got in and killed them.
What I hate worse is when our cats are on their porch, a male come up to the bars and SPRAYS all over. That takes forever to go away. It has to be the worse smell on earth.

I suppose that animals just do what nature tells them to do. They get into trouble when our expectations run counter to their nature.
As for the dog getting into your property, I would blame the dog's owner. As for the tomcat, well, what can you say?
How about you get a dog and socailize it with your cats. Teach the dog to go after the interloping tomcats. Either that or get a bb gun. (shrugs)

That reminds me of when I lived in Alabama. There was a mean rooster that used to chase us kids around, I was so scared of him as well as the rest of us. But one day he got his. We found what was left of him by the lake, something got ahold of him and ate him for dinner. What a relief it was not to have to worry anymore. I think it was the only time I have felt a little bit of happiness over an animals being dead.

A neighbor at the end of our street in the culdesac owns a nasty Jack Russell Terrier. When our Golden was still a puppy (10 months or so), we were walking past this house, my dog on her leash, minding her own business, clearly on the sidewalk out in front of this house and out bolts this little dog. It came tearing out of the garage, barking and yipping the whole time. It truly was the first experience I was to have with a dog coming up to Hope on our walks. This dog jumped off the ground and went right for Hope's face. Just leaped and meant to do harm. I picked my dog up so fast that little mut (hate that dog) didn't know what to do. Hope was okay but I thought for sure she'd be bleeding. The owner came running outside, very apologetic and scolded his dog. I put Hope down and her tail started wagging, she wanted to greet this dog again. But of course the terrier was still nasty.
I found out this little dog has tried attacking many dogs and young children in our neighborhood, it loves to nip at your calves. The owner keeps it mostly on a leash but I swear I honest and truly hate that dog.
My dog is now 6 and she has never forgotten that incident. I have to almost drag her past this house on walks. She stops and looks up at me as if to ask - are you sure it's safe to walk in front of ~that~ house?
I've since told neighbors if that dog ever tries attacking my dog or any child on this street, I will go after it. Oh yes I will.
This is unlike me but since learning it's very nasty to begin with, I do wonder why they'd even want a dog so mean.
My dog would lick a burglar to death, she's so friendly. At least I know my dog won't attack an animal or person wandering in our yard. She's just a wiggling, peeing mess of friendliness (yes she loses her bladder in all the excitement!).
When that Jack Russell passes away it will be a good thing. I also heard only one family could pet sit it and they moved!

My dog would lick a burglar like crazy, she's so friendly. At least I know my dog won't attack an animal or person wandering in our yard. She's just a wiggling, peeing mess of friendliness (yes she loses her bladder in all the excitement!).

Perhaps that dog has an internal problem or was abused once. Bad experiences or physical problems can have a lasting impact. Maybe that's why the dog is like that.

The owners are not abusive. Quite the opposite. The dog is loved and cared for. It just has a very nasty disposition. We all (27 homes) keep our distance from it. It's quite small but mean. Another reason I love big dogs. The bigger the better, in my book. Now I realize there are large mean dogs but the little ones seem to be the ones we've noticed can be nippy on our walks. Not the Labs, Goldens, Collies or Shepherds. I'm just glad I don't live next door to this family. But one does that owns a Golden. The Golden and Jack Russell do not get along. That Golden is so sweet, he'd make a great therapy dog.

I wasn't referring to it's present owners. I was referring to it's previous owners (if it had some) who might have been abusive. Also, the dog could have a physical or internal problem or disorder. Sorry if I sound mean...

No you don't sound mean, you're going deeper for the cause. Believe you me, all of us wondered how this dog could have such a mean streak. When the owners are nice people. Maybe overbreeding? Or maybe they didn't correct and curb aggressive behavior right away? He was a puppy when they got him. Not really sure. This little dog is older now and by now all on the street know to avoid him. He's cute to look at - but from across the street (when the owner walks him).

There is a stray cat in our neighborhood that raped my brother's 14 year old siamese cat a couple weeks ago. Kitty was out in the backyard which is locked, fenced in and private. Somehow this cat snuck in through the fence and got her. We heard her yelling and went outside and her fur was everywhere. She was quite traumatized and lost alot of hair. She's tough for an old "girlfriend" but we were a little too late getting the other cat away from her.
Every time we see that stray cat we chase him away but he still comes back.

I fear large dogs, I remember one time when I was walking to my great aunt's house with my mom (I was 4 at the time)this large dog (it was an irish settler I found out later)ran up, knocked me down and proceeded to maul me, I still have the scars on my arms. Ever since then I've been deathly afraid of large dogs (an dmy hubby loves dogs, sigh)Sometimes even a small one that barks like crazy and runs up to me gives me pause.
