I went out to let the cats out and look at the little fellows in their cat food.

Yikes, who knows. Cycloneye would probably know. We have hundreds, they are everywhere. I wouldn't want to touch them. Some have heads as big as my fist, haha. Well, almost..... :eek:

aren't they poisonous

the ones we have in Queensland have known to kill dogs when they bite em and their toxic glands like kill the dog

happens with most thier prey out here

is that the same animal?

Yes, I saw one once foam up really big at the mouth when a cat tried to attack it. I think it is poisonous. But, we have cats who will eat out of the dish with them. They seem to sense the harmless cats.

they are a pest out here

some wise guy thought it would be a good idea to introduce em out here decades ago

they are over most of Northern Queensland

The Cane Toad is native to the Americas, from the Rio Grande Valley in southern Texas to central Amazon and south-eastern Peru. This range includes both tropical and semi-arid environments. The density of the Cane Toad within its native distribution is significantly lower than that of its introduced distribution. In South America, it is recorded at densities of 20 adults per 100 square metres, but in Australia the density reaches 1000-2000 adults over the same area

Oh, they will lay eggs in the pool and it seems like a mile long of black eggs hooked together. Just a really long stream of them.

in australia they have a sceme of kill so many and u get stuff like beer or whatever

they re a real pest they are all across the top end and then as far south as southern QLD

its only a matter of time before they start to be a nuissance here
