Worse Cleaning Job

The wash is also hard for me. I hate folding it. I hate sorting it. I really hate matching socks. So now I have no matching socks. I just throw them all in the drawer to be done with it.

I hate cleaning in general but I will do it if company is expected (I live by myself). Potential for shame is a great motivator

Look what I started! All this talk about laundry....I'm happy to see I'm not alone! Janice - I changed cloth diapers when I first became a babysitter. The foster mom I helped out showed me how to use one pin, in front, using the triangle method. I thought that was such a good idea! I hated those rubber pants though - eeek, they stunk to high Heaven! What I remember from those days is visiting a friend from a large family (see the siblings thread, nearly all of my close friends were from families with 8 kids or more!) and seeing dirty cloth diapers soaking in the toilet. OMG, that was nasty-nasty!

Maybe I should tackle my laundry problems this summer (off work until August now). Hubby would also say our bill paying system is in need of major organization too. I used to be so organized - I dunno what happened......LOL

I can't remember disposable diapers when my kids were babies. But, I wouldn't have been able to afford them anyway. Also, when you got little dress outfits, the rubber would be sewn inside the pants. But, back then, everyone I knew used cloth diapers.

They also make great dust rags! I wish I had a few. Moms I sat for used them for burp up cloths too. I remember all of our neighbors hanging wash out too with a whole row of diapers. I am a baby boomer ya know.....so many large families back then! I didn't know anyone using disposable diapers either. No one had A/C either. You misbehaved and a slew of mom's were on your butt, ready to march you home by the ear. Open windows meant no privacy unless you hung out in the woods (which we did when old enough). LOL

Oh Mary, remember the smell of that house with oodles of babies and dirty diapers. No one had AC and if the laundry was kept up - HOLY CRAP their house would stink to high heaven!!!!

Oh, remember when the babies managed to get their diapers off in the middle of the night. I would have to sterize the whole bed.....

Me too. I would clean the fireplace, but not the chimney.....

We are the DIY type. Thru and thru. But that is one job we have hired out. It's risky first of all, our chimney is 2 stories tall! And it's not against the house, since that part of our roof slants down to one story tall. There would be nothing to grab onto if you started to fall! In fact I'm gonna have nightmares just picturing a homeowner doing this job! LOL

We've had a new hot water heater and furnace installed, tile flooring installed in our kitchen, carpet in the family room and our wood exterior windows professionally painted once (we've done them the other 4 or 5 other times) and the chimney. That's about it on our contracted jobs. The rest we tackle ourselves.

I'm still trying to picture you doing this alicia and I just can't. You'd have to own chimney sweep tools! Where do you even buy them?

I love cleaning but two things I hate are cleaning inside the toilet tank ( all those gizmos in their drive me nuts) and ironing. It takes me forever to iron one piece because I always find a wrinkle.

I hate cleaning the inside top of the microwave. I always keep the whole inside clean, but all that stuff that gets on top, yikes, I really have to stretch to get up there...

Janice - boil water in a 2 cup measuring cup or large coffee mug, for 5 minutes on high in your microwave. Remove cup carefully, since it will be very hot. What is left is steam on all the surfaces, even the hard to reach top so all that grime will be very easy to wipe off! I think I accidentally discovered this cleaning tip by heating a mug for 5 minutes instead of 50 seconds or something once......LOL!

Hands down ---it is cleaning the oven for me. I'm too old and have too many back and knee problems to get up and down from the floor to rinse rags. Buckets of water just don't get it. Thankfully one of my daughters will usually help me. I clean and she stands up rinsing the rags.

Hey, this is not cleaning, but a ugly job. I hate it and it takes a long time. Good job to do while reading posts.

John went to Sams last night and picked up a huge bag is green beans. I am sitting here clipping all the ends off...
