Maybe different levels of concern..

fish storm is a fish

Defcon 1 -- Slight chance
Defcon 2 -- 50/50
Defcon 3 -- 80/100% SURE OF A LANDFALLER.. :cheesy:

How about fish or SHARK?

Although a shark is a specific type of fish, it is the type that inflicts damage, injury, or death upon people since it moves into the coastal areas near the shore rather than staying offshore - just like a hurricane does - "fish" has connotations of benevolence and in tropical talk implies it just stays out to sea and doesn't bother anybody :D

How about fish or bite? It's very true. A landfalling storm will take a BITE out of the United States or another country.

I like bite but when you think of SHARK in the FISH or SHARK relationship - the first thing you think of is an attack near the coastal waters - just like a hurricane. The analogous relationship between FISH and SHARK is general to more specific but both are water animals, in your case the relationship between FISH and BITE is animal and an action it takes or a consequence from an action - which has a more subtle, and in my opinion a less impressionable effect.
