my cats sick i need help

my cat just got back from the kennel on tuesday, and i think he may have picked up something. Hes running a fever, hes slept almost all day, hes been sneezing a lot, and he wont drink. Can anyone help?

they dont open till the morning anything i can do before that?

I think if you live in a good size town, check the telephone book and see if there is a clinic that stays open late. Other than that, I don't know. I have tons of cats, but they never acted like that.

Some advice for caring for a sick cat until you can get her to the vet tomorrow:-
I just found this on the 'net for ya....

You want to make sure your cat has a clean, soft, warm bed to lie in. It needs to be draft-free and quiet. You want to make sure your cat spends a lot of time there resting peacefully so its body can heal itself. You don’t want to subject your cat to any excessively warm or cold conditions when it’s sick, either. So don’t take it outside if it’s hot or cold. You also don’t want to overexert itself during exercising. You want to make sure it does move around and gets some exercise. But don’t let it grow too tired from walking or playing.

You want to monitor your cat’s pulse and temperature frequently. You can take your cat’s pulse by putting your finger on the inside of your cat’s thigh. This is where the femoral artery is. You can count how many heart beats your cat has per minute. A normal pulse rate for a cat is between 110 and 130 beats per minute. A cat’s heart typically beats 90 to 100 times a minute. When taking your cat’s temperature, you should use a regular thermometer. Lube it with vaseline or mineral water and insert it in your cat’s anus. A normal termperature for a cat is 100 or 101.5 degrees. If your cat has a temperature over 102, it has a fever. If the fever is high, you need to tell your vet.

Giving your pet lots of love is perhaps the most important thing you can do for your sick pet. Make sure it understands that you know it’s not feeling well and are sympathetic toward it. Make sure you love it more than ever, so it will have a positive attitude toward healing.

Sounds like it could be pnuemanitis, which is basically cat pnuemonia. Best thing you can do is get the cat to a vet as soon as you can. They should be able to treat the cat and he should be okay

Sounds like he has a viral infection. Your kitty will need antibiotics. Take him/her back to the vet. He also may have urinary tract infection on top of that. It is best not to wait. A cat will not drink water if the tract is infected.

i took him into the vet (5 minutes before it opened). they diagnosed him of a respiratory flu and he has to go in once a week for 6 weeks for a shot and we have to give him an antibiotic once daily.

That is great news it is not something really bad. I am sure things will be fine now.

Make sure you give him the antiiotics till they are all gone.

Respiratory Flu is a viral infection. The antibiotic will not cure that part but will cure the urinary part. The shots are actually vitamins.

It also looks like you got all of the answers you need. I was going to say to make sure that you get him to the vet in the morning. It sounded like a "flu" to me.

i was going to say that anti-biotics are totally useless on viral infections. good luck with the cat. the vet gave me anti-biotics to give my cat once for what she diagnosed as a viral infection. she looked at me like i was stupid when i told her a virus is totally un-affected by an anti-biotic

Most people don't understand that, they want an anti-biotic for everything. But the vet should have dern well knew. :roll:
