Spring.....I want Winter back!

#1 Postby Miss Mary » Mon Apr 03, 2006 6:42 am

Just venting - I usually get sad this time of year. All around me everyone is awakening from Winter. Happy that Spring has finally arrived. Neighbors out doing yardwork and beginning their 2 to 3 times a week of grass cutting (yes, you read that right, I'm sandwiched between two nuts). They cut that often in Spring, b/c "it rains so much." So they say. I want to yell back - Global Warming! LOL

Anyway, just wondered if anyone is kinda sad Spring has arrived. While I know it's nice to shed Winter coats, see flowers bloom, trees budding out, I kinda miss......ya ready? Shoveling snow!

I'd really look like the crazy person if I said that to my neighbors who cut grass several times a week!

RIP Winter - mild as it was!

Mary

I always miss winter, but I'm usually ready for rain by this time as opposed to snow, unless it was a mild winter. Winter here didn't start until mid-February  , but I'm still ready for spring.

I'm just sad i never got see that one big snowstorm.

Funny thing is, with me leaving to go home to England on the 31st May, I may have seen a higher tempeature yesterday then i will see in England through June, Jyil and August!

the last whole summer i spent in England back in 2004, i dont recall it ever getting above 27C/80F all summer where i was!

It was only in 2003 that england got its first ever official 100F.

When i went to visit last June/July...i flew out of Columbus with a tempature of 94F...arrived in the UK to 74F and everyone was complaining how warm it was...2 days into my stay over there and it was 55F and raining...in the first week of July!

So yes, farewell winter..and for me, farewell forever to Ohio winters..but i think personally, i may be in for a weird year!

Aaaarrrrggg, it's snowing again.

Miss Mary, if you live somewhere with cold or long winters, I would bet you would tire of winter. I'm looking foreward to Spring, and it has been nice for the past few days, minus today of course. :D

We got a snowstorm on April 19. Of course, early May is a little too late for me (and yes we have gotten snow in early May here). All the trees are pretty close to full bloom now. Winter's long gone and over with here and spring is in full swing.

I'm going to Salt Lake City next week; nice place.

Spring is back here too and it was actually above freezing this morning; the 4th morning of the year that it has been above freezing. Anyway, our days our usually warm, but nights cold. We can have some pretty extreme cold spells in winter, so it's good to have them over. Anyway, the weather link is below. Check out how cold it has gotten here on occasion.

Ah, yes...Maybell, location of the record low for Colorado. I couldn't even imagine -61 degrees. Those averages during winter look a bit too cold for me, but summer looks very nice.

Just imagine this: "If it were 90 degrees warmer, it would still be below freezing". :D

Yep, May through mid-October is very nice around here. It still gets hot here because almost no one has AC, but usually nice.

No way Mary. I love spring/summer. Even though it gets hotter than he** here I would take it anyday over cold weather. :D

Just come out west. We have enough snow for you out here right now.

Here is a photo someone took at the Timp Cabin in the Wasatch only 1 and a half weeks ago:

Yup, but around Buffalo, the snow is only in winter and early spring. :D It last year round in places in the high mountains around here-like where the photo was taken (the valleys melt out much earlier).

What is weird about Buffalo is that our daytime temperatures here are really close (except in July and August when our days are quite a bit warmer), but Buffalo almost never gets cold at night. I think it is because of the humidity, and the lake. Compare day and night temps in Buffalo with here:

http://www.weather.com/weather/wxclimatology/monthly/USNY0181

http://www.weather.com/weather/wxclimatology/monthly/USCO0258

Especially notice the extremes in each month. It is weird that we are very close to Buffalo during the day, but nights and extremes are so much warmer there. I thought it was interesting. Could be boring to some.
