Salsa Recipe
Does anyone have a salsa recipe that is out of this world? I need one for my daughter birthday party on Sunday. Yes, I know I can go to the store and buy it but have tons of tomatoes and peppers that I got to use before they go bad.

A friend of mine makes the most wonderful salsa! I've never tried to make it, but here's the recipe.
2 cans (3 or 4 oz.) chopped black olives
2 cans (3 or 4 oz.) chopped green chilis
1 or 2 cloves of garlic minced (taste preference)
10 - 12 Roma tomatos chopped
Handful of chopped green olives (2 tablespoons)
1 tablespoon of chopped jalapenos (I use pickled instead of fresh)
Handful of cilantro chopped
1 bunch of green onions chopped (I use only the green blade)
2 or 3 dashes of hot sauce
2 or 3 dashes of red wine vinegar (1 tablespoon)
2 or 3 dashes of olive oil (1 tablespoon)
1/2 tsp Onion powder
1/2 tsp of cumin
Salt and pepper to taste
Mix and refrigerate for 3 or 4 hours. Best if you let it refrigerate overnight. Good with Corn chips or tortilla chips. This recipe is definitely "to taste", add what you like more of, or take away what you don't like. Since there is no written recipe, my amounts are "guestimates"at best.

Sounds good Jack. I make fresh salsa every year with my tomatoes from the garden. Nothing fancy just plain salsa. I wish I could share it but there is not exact measuments I use. It is basically fresh tomaotes peeled and cubed(about 8), add tomatoes sauce(about 1 can), chopped onion and bell peppers(about 1), sometimes I use a can of green chilis too. Then I put a small amount of cilantro since I don't care for it much but it does add something, and then about 2 tablespoons of fresh flat leaf parsley. Then I squeeze the juice of one lemon or lime in it. It rocks. Oh and course salt and pepper to taste.

i dont measure anything either, but this is what i do.
5 tomatoes, one yellow onion, two jalapenos, one habanero, one can of green chiles, a small can of tomatillos, 1 half bunch of cilantro, and a package of red salsa spices (my husband buys them at the Phoenix airport and everytime we go to NM). Zap it all in a food processor and voila!
i keep mine in a covered glass bowl since it usually melts the plastic ones.

I refer to the cable channel Food Network's website for recipes. You just search and sometimes pages come up for them. Their recipes have never steered me wrong....yet!
