Well I do not want any hazardous weather, but I would do almost anything for some rain. It seems like everyone in Texas got some rain this week except Allen Texas. There was rain to the north in McKinney and to the south in Plano, but none for us!

We are now in our water restriction mode and I cannot see any hope on the horizon for our area (Collin County) lakes.

We got a little bit in Rockwall on Thursday morning, but it barely registered in rain gauge. We're at Stage 3 of water conservation, and can only water the yard 1 time a week. Today I put down soak hoses to keep the foundation from cracking.

Yep - we can only water once a week too. We put down soaker hoses around our home's foundation too. I wish we could get some rain. When we finally get it, it will probably flood or something. It is always feast or famine isn't it?

That is how it was here. We went many weeks without water. We were conserving and even losing wells in our city when all of a sudden one weekend we received about 12" of rain. It hasn't completely ended the problem here, but it sure helped. Hopefully that rain is in your future soon. Not 12" mind you, but enough to help you start the road back to normal.

I assume your restriction is the same as us out in Rockwall. We can only water 1 time a week and not between 10am-6pm. What I did was set my sprinkler to run for about 6 mins/zone at about 4:30am, then another 6 mins/zone at 9:30pm. Two waterings on the only day I can water. I'm not sure that will make any difference.

Yes, we have the same restrictions. That is a smart plan to break it up like that to get the most saturation without runoff. So many people are breaking the darn rules and still watering when ever they want. I hate it when some people think that they are above the rules. Then the rest of us carry them. They are probably the flagrant water use abuser as well! :grrr: It just burns my behind. Here's hoping that we get some rain sometime soon, or at least have decent winter rains at the end of the year.

txtwister, snitch on the violators. But, you know what, if by the end of June we still haven't gotten rain, it won't be hard for the authorities to figure out who's violating the mandatory restrictions. Those with emerald green lawns will stick out from the parched yards.

tstwister, what you are doing is the right way to water. Your lawn only needs 1" of water per week. I forget where i read that, may have been in my newspaper awhile back.
