I'm in no rush to watch them monster develope in the central Atlantic later this summer. This is the first hurricane season I have not looked forward to.....MGC

No storms for another week and half. I say so and the tropics will listen! :cheesy: Yes, I am full of it. The 20 and 21 my husband has a conference down in Orange Beach and we were thinking as a family going down there and having fun.

That is some pretty impressive wave off Africa at about 8N and 19W (and actually it is well offshore Africa and still holding its own) - there is also a spin to it. Actually it looks to have some outflow too. Wow, it is going to be rough Cape Verde season this year. :eek:

I hope so - just because it is June is not a good reason - it looks very, very impressive - better than most we see in August. FYI Ivan formed around those lattitudes but later in the season :)

If it takes a westerly track following 10N lattitude and gets into the Caribbean it has a good chance after reviewing some shear maps. Of course cyclone genesis is not as great at such low lattitudes but certainly possible.

You san see the big UL in this water vapor loop (NW corner of the screen shot) that is moving SE that will probably rip it apart (and anything else that comes off Africa) by this time tomorrow if our system doesn't stay near 10N:
