Pearl River wrote:The full version of it is funny. He can hardly remember Katrina's name and he also cusses her out. All my life living here and I'm 47yo., I never would have thought that Lake Pontchartrain could ever get that high.
I've only driven through Slidell, never lived there. As you said though, having seen much of the area, I find it inconceivable, that I saw Lake Ponchatrain like I saw it in that video!!! That is the only way to state it.
Of course I would have never believed in my life that the bridges across Pensacola Bay(especially I-10) could have been damaged like they were if I had not seen the pictures and heard the first hand accounts myself(I grew up in Gulf Breeze across the bay from P'cola) For that matter I find it all but inconcievable that all of the bridges along the MGC were destroyed and that surge was to the N of I-10 also and it did happen.

I felt the same way when I saw what was left of the I-10 Twin Spans that cross between Slidell and New Orleans. You just don't feel it could happen until you see it. The whole event, even today, feel's so surreal.
