I remember when I lived in Arizona for a year all the haboobs that occured. It is amazing to see a wall of dust hit you head on like that. The worst two I went through also came with a period of 40-60mph winds.

This particular Haboob was called one of the strongest in years-the current drought conditions clearly a factor. The thunderstorms developed just west of Fort Huachuca and brought high winds and blowing dust to Tucson. The storms peaked in the Marana area causing widespread damage and the outflows consolidated resulting in the Haboob. This was the second Haboob in the area in three days and yesterday a third one hit the Phoenix area though not as badly as the first two. These storms can be very dangerous for drivers becaus of the sudden loss of visibility which leads to a lot of accidents-usually with fatalities on I-10.
