I just got word that Jessica has a lymphoma but her mother was so upset she didn't get any further information. They are starting her on Chemo tonight with different drugs to follow tomorrow. I appreciate all your prayers for Jessica and her father Joey in their fight against cancer.

As a cancer survivor I know firsthand how frightening that C word can be. I am praying Cookiely. You and your family are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.

I just got some great news. My brother in law Joey went for his first checkup and blood work and he is in remission. Jessica had her first radiation treatment today but she needs your prayers because she is so sad right now. A psychiatrist came to talk to her tonight and the physicians are trying to get her social services so she can get some financial help which will ease her mind some. Her little sister Stephanie went and got a job to help out with bills and buy clothes for her and her brother when school starts. I thank God for Joey going into remission in just one month. His physician said it usually takes four months so this is wonderful news. Joey has to have laser surgery soon as he is going blind from diabetic retinopathy. So would appreciate prayers that his surgery is a success. He wants to be able to set up a bible study in prison to help the prisoners. Thank you all for your prayers and emotional support during this time.

They removed Jessica's chest tube and she had another round of radiation and was discharged home. The support group came and let her choose a wig before she went home because they wanted her to be prepared for when she loses her hair. They were so kind and gave her a huge gift of a makeover and make up to lift her spirits. The respiratory therapist had an Oxygen machine installed at home and portable oxygen for her to use to go to appointments. I just can't explain how sad I have been today.

Prayers Needed Update

#40 Postby Cookiely » Sun Jun 18, 2006 4:00 pm

Jessica was rushed back to the hospital today with chest pains and shortness of breath. They couldn't do a CAT scan because she couldn't breath when she was lying flat. The Physician said the fluid was minimal and she had a minor infection where the chest tube had been inserted which was as he put it in a dangerous area to have an infection. The nurses were having difficulty inserting an IV and had to get the anesthesiologist to insert one. The oncologist is recommending that she be put on a ventilator because she is in distress with her lungs because of the disease and radiation and felt she would be more comfortable. I am asking for your continued prayers for my niece and brother in law who is not doing well the past few days he has started to get huge bruises on his legs. Joey is going to see his oncologist in the morning.
