Well, local met here said tropical depression may form this weekend and affect us in Jax by tuesday. Gave no indication as to the strength or whether or not it would be any more than a td-by watching him, I got the impression that he simply doesnt reallize there is another classification above Tropical depression-just a tropical depression, guess a tropical storm or a hurricane come from something else LOL. Ill keep an eye on it myself-hope it dont affect my AC. I get cranky without AC

I have nothing but the greatest respect and appreciation for the folks here at S2K; but I don't think pejoratives cast in the direction of another professional organization of meteorologists is altogether in order. Respect is important for all who work in this medium. Thanks for the link zlaxier.

Yes I do concur that there is somewhat of a prejudice against AccuWx. They have some of the best forecasters IMO out there, maybe their management has some problems with the public/private sector ordeal, but their forecasters are IMO top-notch.

Accuweather says alot of things, and one out of 500 times it happens

These media orginizations are trying to get ratings, And if that means overdeveloping storms so be it. It's gotten to be pretty sad to the point where it's hard to watch. I'll give an example, Ophelia. JB takes it right into NOLA, no enviromental conditions were supporting it, its a ratings game sadly, just to grab attention, ratings over accuracy it is anymore.

Always go with the NHC forecast.

I really thought we'd been asked to tone down the "negatives" about AccuWx, and/or any other professional meteorological professionals... I dunno, maybe it's that my memory is slipping.

And we ask politely every year, on behalf of the admins -- please do not bash the pro met sites.

If you have an argument on which to base your criticism of a particular forecast, please do so in a civil manner. If you're bashing them just for their general forecasts, then please do so to family and friends if you wish. But DO NOT DO IT ON THIS SITE.

Agree with GalvestonDuck. Love 'em or hate 'em, it is incumbent on us to maintain a semblence of professionalism around here. We run a respectable joint and we aint gonna have no bashing. Got it?
