My 11 year old son...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

My 11 year old son...

#1 Postby StJoe » Sat Jun 10, 2006 11:09 am

is leaving for Australia for 2 weeks this Monday with a Student Ambassadors program. He is leaving from Ft. Lauderdale at 4:00 PM, and flying to LAX.

Does anybody think there is a possible cancellation for this, or at least some delays? Please let me know what you think...Thanks!

Absolutely not unless a severe thunderstorm occurs.

Maybe a small possibility of a short delay waiting for another plane or something to get in, but not due to weather unless there are some major changes in the expected track and intensity of this system, which is not very likely at this point. Or as Scorpion said, if there is some sort of severe storm near the airport when he is supposed to leave.

Actually, they are spending a week in New Zealand (they land in Auckland on Tuesday), and then spend a week in Australia.

The 33 delegates will be going to Sydney, Cairns, Auckland, The Great Barrier Reef, and so much more. They are going to spend a night with an Aborigine tribe. I'm freakin' jealous myself, trust me

Maybe we can fit in their suitcases.

One day, I will visit Australia... for sure. Even NewZealand must be beautiful. All I know about New Zealand is they have a North Island and a South Island.

I'm sure as they are doing the whole East coast of Australia, they will do Brisbane. Tell him to look out for Coff's Harbor, I used to have a friend that lived in Grafton Australia, really close to Coff's Harbor, its apparently really beautiful there. (as I'm sure most of Aussie is).

Well, I know a little of where they will be going, and my son is getting very nervous now. He thought it would be no big deal, going away for 2 weeks without his Mom and Dad, but he is starting to feel the pressure; as well as me.

What a wonderful opportunity for him and an event he will never forget. Congratulations on your son's achievement in being selected in the Student Ambassadors program. That is really awesome!
